Street Add-On Mod...bright yellow square under road?

Hi folks....

...just about to start on my first city after spending some time getting my geography just as I want it. Went to use the Street Add-On Mod to lay my first road...so tabbed through the options and settled on the one I want, place four tiles of road and every other tile replaced the green grass it was on with a bright yellow-ish square.

This looks odd as its one tile of road on proper green, one tile of road on this weird bright yellow/white....any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks! :-D

Hi Kentpumas1980,

Sounds like someone hasn't read the instructions......come on...admit it...you wouldn't be the first.  You can bulldoze the section of road with the yellow sides.   All you have to do is lay down just one piece of the selected street texture, which will actually be 2 squares.  Then bulldoze the section out lined in yellow.   Then select the maxis road option and drag it from the end of the one remaining section of the street add on tile and the entire street should be in that texture.

Hope this helps.

First you have to lay a street.  Then pick up the starter piece you need and drop it at the end of the street.  Now, bulldoze the outlined tile of the two textures.  You may have to use the street tool to drag your texture after that.  It quite often doesn't propagate far enough.

You should also look for a set of lots called "SAM Stoppers" to prevent the textures from overflowing onto streets where you don't want them or to switch textures.

Yup, hands up folks....I didn't read all the SAM instructions properly!!  Lesson learnt there, but thanks for the help. I just assumed it would work the same as the in-game street placement where you simple clicked and dragged.

I've also got the NAM installed. Am I safe to assume that this works automatically? I've been using the original SC4 roads (couldn't see a SAM option for roads, just streets)...will this be ok or will I need to use something other than the in-game roads for it to work?

Also, a completely different question if anyone knows...can you give two cities on the map the same name?

    Thanks! :)

...had a quick search for "SAM stoppers" on the exchange but couldn't find any. Is this a particular set of lots for download or are they listed as something else?

    Thanks in advance

Technically you cannot name 2 cities the same.   But you can do it if you just add a period (for example) at the end of one names.  They just can't be identical.
