Wondering if someone had a link or something to road data. (did a search that didn't help)

Anyways I have a few intersections that are at capacity and I would like to know how much they are over/what they can hold.

Thanks!

If you have the latest NAM, you can use the Traffic Simulator Config Tool to check the capacities (and adjust them if you want to).

I believe that the default capacity is 1400 cars (keep in mind that this is the point where it begins to get congested...it's probably good to 2000).

In the vanilla game, roads have a capacity of 1000 and avenues have a capacity of 2500. There's a table in the first post of the NAM Unified Traffic Simulator and Data View Help thread that shows the capacity for the various levels of the NAM traffic simulator; keep in mind that this is capacity per tile, so you need to double it for networks such as avenues. "At capacity" is the highest level at which a network remains green in the congestion view. As for how much they can actually hold, all networks actually have infinite capacity, believe it or not. Networks turn deep red when they reach 250% of their nominal capacity; at this point, congestion reduces speed to 30% of the network's nominal speed. But unlike RL, that's as congested as any network gets (NAM or not), and that's the slowest that traffic ever moves. So you can keep adding as much traffic as you want to a network, and it will always run at least at 30% of its nominal speed.

In order to adjust the capacity of your roads etc., you have to exchange a file in your main Network Addon Mod directory. For example, if you have NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_Z_Medium.dat in there, you may exchange it for the "High" version.

And the easiest way to do that is to use the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool. If you didn't install that with your NAM, you can get it in the . Generally, adjusting the base capacity by one level is sufficient.

And if you notice yellow or red squares around intersections, that's the game's intersection effect. It means that Sims are actually slowing down for the intersection. But the advisors still complain about congestion, so I just turn them off.

Gotcha.. I like the "default" capacity... but I have several avenues and they are all "red" at the intersections.

    Thanks!

I think you will be happier using the traffic flow display than the basic congestion display. It does a smoother job of displaying capacities. just click the second radio button.

vanilla (no mods) a road, an avenue, and a highway, can all support 30,000 volume. you just need to use buses, so there is no congestion.
