So basically I have lost all my files and have no alternative but to start again.

Maybe this time I'll implement something resembling an organised folder. So I'm asking you ST, how do you organise your plugins folder?

Kind regards.

Damn, could there be a worse person for this to happen to? ;)

I just have my plugin folder organised into sections, e.g. transport (which could then have sub-folders for road stuff, railway stuff etc.), civics, parks, dependancies. I also try and keep an image of every lot i have next to the lot's acual file, so i know what everything is. Makes it very easy for me to find and remove stuff I no longer need.

Hopefully this is some use to you ;)

Spoderman, pls.

There is actually another thread talking about how to organize plugins that you might interest to check

Sir, you might want to remove those images from your plugins. They are trash and should not be inside your plugins. They do nothing but slower your game loading time. :)

Well, one thing you can do is categorize everything you download like so:

  • a_Dependency packs (prop packs, texture packs, etc.)
  • a_Packed Plugins
  • b_Buildings

    • Civic
    • RCI
    • Utilities
    • Misc

    [*]b_Parks

    • Fillers
    • Pathways
    • Plazas
    • Prefab
    • Misc

    [*]b_Miscelaneous lots

    [*]c_Mods

    • Automata
    • Game Mechanics Mods
    • Terrain Mods
    • Texture Mods
    • Transit Mods

    [*]z1_Texture overrides (Euro Textures, etc.)

  • Network Addon Mod
  • T21 Exemplars

[*]z2_Other overrides

Within the subfolders, you can arrange everything by author.

Hope this will help you organise ;)

Best,

Maarten

I know, but my plugins folder isn't that big (only 1 gb max and images take up at most 20mb) and the loading times don't bother me ;) I just find it handy to have the images, since some people's file naming is weird ;)

And Mandel, I now must reorganise my plugins folder... yours is just... superior :(

Anyway, I'll let you all get back to the topic :P

To be fair, what I posted is how I WOULD organise it if I did it just all over again, but over the years, my plugins folder has grown a bit messy :uhm: But all new stuff is organised in some way...

Don't feel too bad about it. Mine used to be very well organized but, over time, things get less so. For example, today I added a couple of BAT lots without condensing them into a single .dat which is what I do to save on a little space. I really don't care for datpacker because I like to be able to get at individual files easily, but I do use Files2dat to shrink up the space in a given folder a little. I think I've become more careless since I got my large disks.
