Lot Editor - a bit confused

    Hi

I thought that i'd have a go at customising pre-existing lots using the lot editor. I picked a lot and then placed a new base, an overlay, and props and then saved it as a new save (i left the lot as it was previously called and just put my name in front so as to recognise it). When I looked in plugins i was happy to see that the newly saved lots were there but when i started game i couldnt find the lots in any of the thumbnails or in the ctrl x cheat box. I then closed the game, removed all plugins apart from the one I had just customised and started a new map. My plugins were in the thumbnails but when i placed one the overlay was missing. The lot was to be a uk side street parking area an I done one for the road too. I had also customised a lot to be a street and road picnic parking area. The picnic area had picnic tables, lights, swing area etc and these were all here but the road overlay was missing. It was the same for the other parking areas. Its just come to me that perhaps my removing the plugins I don't have the dependencies!!! Being thick,,,sorry.

New line of thought amid confusion: Am I correct in thinking that i can simply re-edit the lots in Lot Editor without having to have gmax and bat editor etc. Can I just simply save as a new lot or save over the existing lot?

I did check out the guide on the omnibus and thought I was doings things right.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Yes, you can simply change the lot without having BAT. LE is not depended on BAT, so supposedly, there is no problem when you have LE but you don't have BAT. And yes, you already do everything right, the only thing you must know is the location of your new lot. I think it will be in the park menu. Have you check the park menu ?

    hi

thanks for your reply jason. The park menu is one area that i just quickly looked through and couldnt see anything. I thought that perhaps because i had so many plugins that there wasnt any room for mine, but that doesnt explain why it doesnt show in the cheat - plop a building - that you get through ctrl + x. I thought that i'd surely find it there. I have now created a new folder where i will put edited content and this new folder is at the very beginning so hopefully it will show up.

    Thanks for you help.

How about the .SC4Desc ? I think you must look at this too, because if you use the description from another file, then the file will look like duplicated because there are two lots that use the same description now. Are you sure if you don't see two or more park menus in your menus that seems duplicated from the other one but when you plop them, the lot is not same with the other ? Remember, the game will not use the lot name, but the name from the .SC4Desc.
