Augusta, large Italian city

Great new update. I went back to the region view from post 1, and what really strikes me is how there is a clear city center - presumably the historic, classic center - which I think is not always so easy to create - nice work.

    @ Hazani Pratama

Thank you, I tried to recreate the countryside of the flat areas of Italy.

    @ the handyman

Well, you would still have credit for taking the trouble to upload, which would be totally admirable.. but obviously you don't have to! :)

It's not that I'm too lazy to do it myself, I really have no time. Perhaps it's a job that would be best done by more than one person.

    @ Benedict

You are right, at the center is the historic, classic town, surrounded by the medieval walls and therefore clearly distinguished from the rest of the city. It's a feature of many Italian towns.

The difficulty lies in finding suitable historic buildings, which for a large part I had to BAT myself. As for road style, the SAM cobble stone streets fit just perfectly.

Wow - this is a huge surprise! Well done on all accounts. Like Benedict mentioned, I am really impressed by how well you differentiate between historical periods of your cities development. Excellent work so far! I'm looking forward to more.

Really colorful textures! Can you tell us if you use only your props and textures? Or do you use others aswell and if you do which are they?

Thank you guys, glad my work is paying off. :)

    @ thehandyman

Which textures are you referring to, exactly? For my models, one of my favourite sites is www.cgtextures.com

For the terrain, I use the Italian terrain mod -though others would work just as well, I guess.

When it comes to props, aside from my own, I downloaded all sorts of prop packs by different authors, for example Debussyman, MBear, Mattb325, Glenni, Somy, just to name a few. My plugin folder weighs just under 2GB, of which only 200MB are my own creations.

That's really impressive. I haven't been on Simtropolis for ages, and I pop in for a look and see this... Wow! Looks like a completely different game. Now you're making me all nostalgic for Italy...

I love your city of Augusta and have downloaded your bat file. Thank you so much. I myself was working on rebuilding Rome but couldn't find enough Italianate buildings, so I am so eager to use yours.

However, I have run into a few issues that I hope you can help me with.

    1. Some of your buildings have brown boxes when I plop them. On most, you can make out much of the building but see a smaller brown box when the building is plopped, so perhaps these smaller boxes are caused by the lack of the automata files that you noted in your readme file. As you offered on divshare, can I get these automata files from you? And if you think something else might be causing the problem, such as other missing dependencies, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. I have downloaded your entire unzipped rar file into my plugins, so I don't think I'm missing anything that you uploaded.

    2. At least one of the buildings has a larger brown box problem - the farmaccia is entirely a brown box. Are you aware of why this might be?

    3. Most importantly, if I open the Transportation - Miscellaneous submenu (it may have a slightly different name, but it is the 4th one down in the Transportation menu), the game freezes. I'm pretty sure this is not due to any conflict, because I ultimately removed or uninstalled everything else from the plugins folder, including uninstalling the NAM mod. Do you have any idea why the game freezes when I move my cursor over the Transportation menu? I can read the Torre Civita file name when the mouse hovers but then it freezes. Removing the Torre Civita files did not help, and I can see that there are several other files contained in the Transportation section that I can't see the name of because of the freeze. What files in your rar appear on the Transportation menu? If you can at least give me a list of your bat Transportation buildings, I can remove them all and reinsert them one by one to see what the problem is. Or is it a broader problem, such as my needing some other mod to make them work?

Again, thanks so much for creating and posting your bats and for building your beautiful city, and thanks in advance for any help you can give me with the above issues.

It's great to find a compatriot enthusiast to reproduce Italian style in this community! *:thumb:

The use of the buildings is fantastic and I understand the tremendous work profuse in the Lot Editor! :O

If you don't have much time to release your creations don't worry, take what you need and divide whole into smaller sets, such as a Roman set, a medieval set, etc.. + a list or a set of dependencies or even more "miniset" of the same style. It's just a suggestion and if you want things to remain as they are, so be it.

Not bad but I still can't understand how it is possible to have the Colosseo, Campanile di San Marco, and a fictional Duomo di Milano all in the same city...

I think you went a bit too far with this

Again thank you all, it's great to read your comments!

    @ thehandyman

I definitely love to share my work, however I really have no time to properly upload hundreds of files to the STEX, as that would mean to scan lots for dependencies, to compress, to include shots, documentation, etc.

However, again anybody can download most of my BATs here:

    http://www.divshare.com/download/23679707-33a

If anybody wishes to upload my work to the STEX, is welcome to do so.

You won't find my custom automata at the link above, only because when I modded them I didn't bother to use new instances, so they may conflict with some other custom plugins.

Should anybody be interested, my personal automata include the orange bus and tram, the trolley bus, the blue regional buses, tourists coaches, scooters that replace the in-game commuter cars, 3 long trailer trucks, some new trailers, 2 superbikes, the ACI tow truck, the mail truck, 2 motorhomes, a tractor, and more.

If I get requests, I'll also make my gmax files available for download (at least the ones that survived my pc crush/change, as several are unfortunately lost, or only the "primitive" stage survives) so batters will be able to play around with them and perhaps change some textures to their liking.

this link dont find in my bulgaria sorry
