Not A Big Deal, but....

I recently dl'ed a mod of a store called CVS . As you can see if you look at the night shot pic, the sign near the lamp post is lit up white with the red CVS. However, that sign does not light up on my store. All the other stuff does light up. It says no dependencies. Like the title says...not a big deal...just wondering if anyone had an issue like this?

After plopping it, how long (in Sims time) did you wait to see if it lights up?

There are two possibilities

1) You don't have build 6.40 installed( this supports nightlighting for custom BATs )

2) You didn't run the game long enough

Since you have the main store lit up, I think this rules out nightlighting issues. It might be because the sign is a timed prop – meaning it only turns on at certain times of a city day. This is based on the game's simulation clock which can be viewed by hovering over the date (in the bottom left corner).

Try setting your game to the auto day / night setting. If the sign is a timed prop, it should turn on at night and then off again in the early hours of the city day. You may have to wait a bit for a full cycle to occur.

Note: speeding up the game simulation won't speed up this process.

I plopped the store over a year ago in the SimCity "world". As far as I can tell, that sign has never lit up. I have version 1.1.641.0 of the game which seems to be the newest downloadable retail copy. Don't know if that has Build 6.40. Let me try Cyclone Boom's idea...see what will work. Thanks guys.

Build 1.1.641.0 is actually an update of 640. Also, maybe its a bug or something? Because nightlights are suppose to work regardless.

Yeah I did the auto day/night setting...that didn't work. So...not sure what the issue is. I am waiting on a reply from the maker of this lot.

My friend, you always pay attention to the detail eventhough it's little, aren't you. Well that's good in most case.

But if you waiting a replay from its creator i'm afraid you won't got any. He's no longer active. Try the auto day/night set and wait like cyclone said.

Dekiscool....don't worry. Nothing is wrong with your game. Just enjoy playing. You seem to be getting a little hung up on whether your buildings are lighting up at night, and it really has nothing to do with game play. If they don't light up, and that bothers you, then do one of two things: Stop playing in night mode - or - bulldoze the building and pull it out of your custom plugins.

Night is far overrated. The actual simulation ignores it, and it is just eye-candy. Sure the lights are nice, but I generally play with day-only and switch to night once in a while to view the effects.

    Quick review: F5 - day, F6 - night, F7 - cycle.

LOL...I do like the lights. It is nice. I know it has nothing to do with actual game play...just kind of cool. I did try what Cyclone said...and I waited like a year in the game time with the auto on. It didn't work. Oh well. Like I said...no big deal...I will live without it...lol. Maybe I will have to learn to create my own mods one of these days. How does one go about that?
