Sims not using neighbour connections?

Hi guys, hoping someone can help me with a couple of issues. 1 is I now have a region of around 500,000 sims, in about 5 cities, all are connected, when I click on the neighbour link it says congestion is zero and no one is using it. Why are the sims not using th neighbour connections? They are all connection with an elevated highway or avenues.

The other issue I have is I see many people have built cites with hundred of thousands of sims, I seem to stagnate around 100,000, my biggest at 130,000.My demand is high, with high desireability, sims have everything what else can I do? Seems the map size is just very small.

I also tried to build just an industrial city, but cannot seem to get it to work even with connections to other cities. They demand just drop unless I place commercial zones as well.. How is this done so that I have 1 city as an industrial city connected to another commercial city?

Don't use the normal query tool but use the route query tool instead. If you use the route query tool, then you can know about the real number of commuters crossing the neighbor connection.

First question in these situations is always what version of the game do you have?

Use windows explorer to find SimCity 4.exe and hover over the file with your mouse. It should tell you what you have. Anything less than 1,1,638 needs patching to fix bugs.

If you are running any version of Windows before Vista, you will have to right click and open the properties page. Look at the version tab.

We need to know we are all on the same page.

I have Sim City deluxe (Comes with the expansions).

by version he means do you have any of the patches? current version right now is 1.1.640.0 for simcity 4 deluxe/rh.

to find out what version you have: go to the installed location(typically C:\Program files(x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps) right click on the simcity 4 exe file and click "properties" then click on the details tab, there you will find the application's current version

I have the steam version doesnt that have all the patches.

Yes, it's fully patched if it's from Steam. If you use the Route Query instead of the normal one, I think you'll find there is no problem.

^ yes. The version number should be 1,1641.

You won't necessarily see action on your neighbour connections without running all cities that are involved. The game can only see one tile at a time and it has to get updated city by city.
