Logging into SC4Devotion is insufficient. You also have to be registered for the LEX.

having to reformat does that :/

Saving everything to a backup hard drive avoids that. :)

Amen. The importance of backups is not emphasized enough, especially among more naive computer users. No disk drive is forever. My system does automatic weekly backups and I do extra ones to yet more media if I remember, which isn't often enough.

I wish i had a backup hard drive. I keep most stuff backed up on dvds (i don't have much) but last time my hard drive bit it i had the plugins and regions backed up, but not my sc4 related apps. :(

Doesn't matter about the apps if you can download them again.

For around $200 or less you can get an external hard drive with a 1TB capacity. I have one, partitioned into five non-windows partitions of 200GB each. I don't know if you can get much smaller disks or not. With windows you can only have two active partitions on this kind of drive, so you would be stuck with two 500MB partitions.

Sure would make a nice boxing day gift, eh?

Since I run Linux, my partitions on that drive are on-line and included in my file system tree. Only one of the partitions can be off line, the rest are welded to the O/S.

You know what's funny? When I got my very first PC over 13 years ago, it only came with a 4GB hard drive. I asked the salesman about an upgrade to a 20GB drive, and he told me not to worry about it because the 4GB drive was more than I'd ever need!!
