Help with plugins

Ok, I've recently gotten into modding SC4 Deluxe. I downloaded the must have MODs listed in one of the sticky topics in this forum. They all had installers so I didn't need much help.

Now I'm trying to download some MODs that have no installers. Now I know you are supposed to extract to your plugins folder in My Documents, so do I have extract all files into that folder, or can I create a seperate folder for the MOD, place all the files in there, and then put that folder into my plugins folder?

Reason I ask is because after installing the essential mods, my plugins folder seems to have turned into a mess, and I have some trouble locating files.

Yes, you may use any system of subfolders inside the Plugins that you may want to set up. Something to keep in mind, however, is that some plugins need to load before or after others. Load order is generally alphabetical by the name of the folders. Items that fall under this category are usually indicated in the download listing or installation instructions and sometimes have a series of 'Z's in the name.

I keep all my downloads in a separate cache (folder) and I have a sub-folder for things downloaded related to SC4. I unpack everything in place there. Here is a look at my top structure:

Note that there is one file here. The Extra Cheats dll file must be at the top level of Plugins. Also, see that some extra folders have been added at the end to force some plugins to load last. If you compare this to the downloads list, there is not a 1:1 correspondence.

I should've order my plugins like that from the begining, now it's become too big to do that. Uuh, well, at least i datpacked most of them to help spruce my plugins a little.

It's never too late. Just start another Plugins structure away from the game and when it is ready to test, swap it in.

669.8 MB as of now. Grew a little this morning. 537 directories, 2448 files and it needs some house cleaning when I get around to it. Not all the non-plugin stuff has been removed as yet.
