But you never could. Not in earlier SimCities, nor in the new one. Each game had its limitations, whether they are "no curvy roads" and "bus stops the size of a house" or they are "tiny not adjacent cities" and "no subway". It can't realistically model the real city and it never shall for the sake of fun. It's a game, not a professional urban/traffic simulation software. You can't play with the latter. The real difference in the perception of the game limitations is that you're used to some of them after more than decade of playing, and to some you're not. Well, if that is the case, why the need for all this man-management in the new game? It's just a game as you state, yet the game is very detailed when dealing with the micro aspects of a city. That just shows that the team at Maxis spent a whole deal of time dealing with the game at a micro-level, but in order to do that, they've gone backwards in terms of what SimCity is all about, the macro-level of city building. I never got SimCity 4 to deal with individual citizens, if I wanted that, I would stick with Tropico, Societies, hell, even the The Sims for that matter. You say it's not simulation software, but the word being thrown around most by Maxis and EA is simulation.

Why can't it be both? Really no need to pigeonhole another person's perception of the game. I'd have to say I enjoyed both aspects of SC4 immensely.

Ok, I've recently gotten into modding SC4 Deluxe. I downloaded the must have MODs listed in one of the sticky topics in this forum. They all had installers so I didn't need much help. Now I'm trying to download some MODs that have no installers. Now I know you are supposed to extract to your plugins folder in My Documents, so do I have extract all files into that folder, or can I create a seperate folder for the MOD, place all the files in there, and then put that folder into my plugins folder? Reason I ask is because after installing the essential mods, my plugins folder seems to have turned into a mess, and I have some trouble locating files.

Will you buy Simcity 2013?
g3inbloom replied to MTLT_17's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Have been a huge fan of this series, ever since my dad bought a PC that came with SimCity 2000 and MechWarrior 2 (another series which has gone online only, with the newest one being underwhelming by the looks of the beta) and I was hooked on the game, even though I had no idea what I was doing. As I got older and wiser, the game opened up even for me. I skipped 3000, and picked up SC4. I was completely addicted to the game for several years, and still play it here and there. When I saw the gameplay for the new game, I was excited, but after reading more about it, the more depressing it seems to get. I probably won't be buying the game, but after reading around on numerous gaming forums, even if a chunk of the hardcore fanbase of SC don't buy the game, it probably won't even put a dent into sales. People are just jumping on the hype train, and most don't understand the issues at hand. There isn't a company I hate more than EA (Maxis deserves blame too). They've already run a couple other franchises I love into the ground.
