Where are the skyscrapers?

Hey guys

I had restarted playing my simcity 4 rush hour yesterday, my region currently contains 4 cities. two mid sizes cities, and two small size cities, and i chose one of the mid size city to be my future downtown. currently i had quite a few wealthy residents in the three neighboring cities, and i also have many high tech industries in one of the mid size city. so i went back to my main city, and realized the demand bars for mid offices and high offices were hitting the ceiling, so i zoned some high density commercial zones, place police station, fire station, parks, and a land mark, and to my astonishment, all the commercial buildings that came up were small buildings, there were absolutely 0 skyscrapers given that the demand bars are hitting the ceiling! I have no idea what's going on, do the skyscrapers require something else besides high demand? currently my downtown city has around 10K population, could it be that i don't have a large enough population base? I DO HAVE WATER AND ELECTRICITY

Thank You

SimCity 4 better than Cities Skylines change my mind.

Depending on what mods you're using...

Population: 100,000+

Education: Medium High/High

Demand: Co$$ Co$$$

Desirability: Medium High/High

Traffic: Yellow, Orange, Red (More traffic the better)

That's about it, I do this on most of my cities and don't need Airports and things like that. CAM also helps for the custom buildings I've downloaded to grow properly.

If you are using default zoning, its part of your trouble. Take you busiest corner and put a plaza on one side, and a 4 x 4 High Density C lot on each of the others. If your demand, education level, and desirability are high enough your should get three tall buildings. Since they will have double bounds, Superman won't be able to leap them.

Commercial zones demand a certain amount of car traffic ("Customers") to have the desirability necessary to grow skyscrapers, assuming the stage limits requirements are met as well. Air pollution murders desirability with ease, and is caused by lots of cars as well as large, dense clusters of buildings. Ergo, a solution is necessary to nip this problem in the bud before it grows.

Although I've found out the hard way (making my air filter BATs which you can find on the STEX) that unfortunately those kinds of lots don't/can't affect traffic pollution. :(

True.

I should have mentioned that current versions of NAM greatly increases the effectiveness of the Clean Air Act ordinance, to the point that it wipes out most of the air pollution generated by vehicles. Combined with other ordinances and air purification lots ( as :)), most non-dirty industry air pollution can be eliminated.

Totally unrealistic? Oh, quite. However, our hand is forced in this instance due to the ridiculous amount of air pollution generated by buildings and its grossly unbalanced effect on desirability. After all, when has a little smog stopped a metropolis from expanding?

On a sidenote, I have most everything you've ever made, Jason.

Normally, I don't use the clean air ordinance, but I think I will see if it improves things, even a little. I have my own pollution fighter.

If you watch my new video series on YouTube, I'm experimenting with forcing traffic through commercial areas.
