Hi,

I'm sorry but that aint possible, you can download some tools from the stex that you can make streams and chanals and plopable water form jeronij but not real seawater as how it looks ingame.

Yes unfortnatley you can't use sea style water. You have to use artifisial water from the STEX. You can then make that sort of thing with some good terroforming e.t.c skills.

Ya, the rain water mod is mainly for making bridges on dry land, since it disappears when you exit the city.

The other artificial waters are eye candy and don't function as game water.  Some of the PEG canal lots have boats and barges that appear periodically.

I too would like to make mountain lakes, and downhill streams.

    Hey simonuts,

to use the rain tool properly, you have to create firts the lake (I would suggest you to use the God Mode tools) and close it with land tiles before fill it with water.

1 Create the lake area (some terraforming with the God mode tools

    Watermod01.jpg

2 Close it to the desired height level ( some terraforming with Mayor Mode tools)

    Watermod02.jpg

3 Fill it with rain. ( I would suggest you to use the fartest zoom level, and the biggest rain radius ( Shift + Rain tool) for better results.

I hope those pics help 2.gif

Like jeronij explained so well, YES, you can use the raintool to fill a dam above sea level or even make lakes in higher elevations. I do this all the time. The only thing though is that you have to refill it ,after you re-enter the city, brcause it doesn't stay saved, but that is acceptable for me for what it gives in exchange.

All you have to do is make a landfill, just like in real live, and make sure that it is watertight buy lifting the terrain all around it or make a dam as the pictures shows. Then simply use the raintool with caution, not to have it overflow.

Well I told you to look in jeronij's propable trees thread (link in his signatur). In the first post there there is a link to his plopable water:
    Plopable Water by jeronij

Please do a little bit of research before posting. You could have done a search on STEX for water, plopable or jeronij and you would have found it. It's showing up on the first page whatever word you search for.

PS:In peoples signatur you find a lot of links to cool stuff.

jeronij & mrbisonm, have either or both of guys ever built your mountain lakes successfully to a point where you could actually use a land sea lot (eg GDV Rosco Yacht Club; Peg's CDK/RTK lots, Waterfalls, etc).  As you know the rain water does have the properties of sea water and sea lots work with them.   I have at times gotten the lots to set and look good, but ended up covering them with water with each lake refill.  I have never been to get the shore to line up correctly to keep the flooding from occurring.

I re-read the thread and you have some good hints for consistent rain water level. Now, the question back at you.  Have you ever been able to build combination land/water lots and maintain them when refilling?  One of the problems is that normal the shoreline has to be rather gradual even to get the original lot plopped.  Then under water it goes with a refill.  I have gotten some boats to show right on a refill.

On the same subject (sort of) I tried using a combination of fake water, fake water shorelines eg Peg, citynut) with the rain filled lake but couldn't get them right either.  A major problen is the irregular straight line rain water shorelines. Maybe I gave up to soon.

    buckbeach,

Its a long time since i have done it so i would have to rty it out. You can see on one screen that i did place a marina and woulld not be destroyed or something like that. A problem was that it is impossible to for boats to sail across a lake that is higher than the sea level. I think i'll experiment a bit again.

Amfraid this thread is going to have to be closed for two reasons...

    1) Maker of this thread ignoring my double post warnings, all of the posts that breack the double post rule after the warnings have been deleated.
    2) The posts that had to be deleated are heading towards a spam fest.
