Here's the Brand new Ring City, my sencond Cj after My personal New York City ( https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=49905&forumID=36&catID=8&search=1&searchstring =) wich it's till growing, soo check that one too and tell me what you think of it.

This is the urbanistic plann for the region, all commerce highrise will be in the inner circle surrounded by the Ring River. The next zone is the high density residential, the next midle density and on the outer zones the industrial and the low density residential, the industrial zones will be outside of the resindetial zones separated by a second river.

/idealbb/files/Ring

This is the first result of the plan, as you see in order for the commute time to be the shortest in the early times, the industrial are inside de Residential Ring, that is until the city grows more when the city itself will push the industrial outside the residential ring, the same thing will most likly happen to the commerce, as it will need more and more space to grow out of the Central Ring.
/idealbb/files/Ring

The tranportation is of high importance in this city, mostly because in the beginig of the city all the commute will be to the Central ring and the outsider industrial zones. this will be solved by round rised highways, round av's, subway and bus. Later i will post a transportation pic in order to be more specific.

Hope you all like this Cj, wait 'till more updates and individual city pics  44.gif

Great start10.gif,

about the layout, in geography we did something like this all about town planning. I think you are using the Hoyt or the Burgess plan for a city, but i cant be sure....34.gif40.gif

Neat Idea. You might need to build some North/South and East/West Highways off of the main beltway to help commute times

Thanks for the support guys, it's comming along nicely, the region has already hit the million and it's looking good, even for commute times sweetmsdj, now I'm going to explain a litlle how the region's comunications are and will be in the future to come

This is how the region's communications are looking right now, as you see, there is a highway ring (red) another ring in the central island(white) plus a huge East-West Av, from north to South there's a highway leading to the location of the Near to come Ring International Airport (R.I.A). As for rail......well, for now the rail (black lines on the East and the West) only communicates residential with Industrial and theres no plans to extend it, excepte for the mono (purpple) wich goes from the central island also to the airport, theres also subway wich will be shown in the next pic
    /idealbb/files/Ring

This is how i plan the communications to be in a few years (except the subway in yellow wich is already there). The blue zone to South is R.I.A. wich will be built in a few years too.
    /idealbb/files/Trans11.JPG

The bus is allso a very important part of the city's transportation sistem, and is widely used, next post will prove it, till next time guys

    /idealbb/files/Ring

And the subway (look how nice shade of blue.....17.gif)
    /idealbb/files/Ring

Sooooooo.................i think the city can live with this system of mass transit at least for a while, and it's working quite nicely, next post will show some individual city pics, for you all to see all the buildings being all shiny and bright 44.gif

It looks like you have a few places where mass transit is hard to come by, so your sims use cars. Maybe if you get those areas going, you can get rid of even more red congestion.

I also wonder, do you have enough room for commerce? It looks like it's already full, and you have so much more to grow.

But the city looks great so far. Keep the pics coming! 1.gif

Here's how the Ring town or Downtown looked 3 years ago
    /idealbb/files/Ring

And here's how it's looking rigth now
    /idealbb/files/Ring

Well, a little about Ring town, it's the capital of sim-nation, so as most capitals, it's the place where you can find every building a capital needs such as the Congress, along with the Ring Cathedral (top left corner) and the presidential building at the bottom of the screen. Ring Town is also the commerce center of sim-nation so since early days, the city has had the presence of important building such as the Empire States and the Chrysler building, with the years others have come due to the high demanding for commerce in the region. The only parks in the city are from top to bottom Foster Park and Nouvel Park, there are other plazas aswell in the city.......

The downtown of Ring City looks marvelous, the skyline, the cathedral, and the capital but el trafico (the traffic) is bad ( and I must say the traffic is worse than the traffic in my region).

i know the traffic is not all green as grass, but you haven't noticed that most of the red represents the subway lines, so the main future problem will be biger capacity for subway stations..........but that will be changed soon19.gif

It's a great idea and well executed so far but I think you will need to introduce commerce throughout the city, otherwise it makes it difficult to fully develop residential areas.44.gif

Please lower the congestion at least to medium-high, your sims will thank you for that. Otherwise, it's coming along very nicely.

One of the consequences of R.I.T.A. is that the commercial has left the central island, here is a pic of Ring Town, of course the island has grown a lot since the last update, the main icorporation is the Washington Tower, the second highest building.

    /idealbb/files/Ring

And here's a night pic of the city
    /idealbb/files/Ring

Two closeups of the night view, the first of the island and the second one of the river banksides.

It's been a long time since the last reply and the city has developed a lot, and as the city has reached nearly the three million inhabitants, the mayor and the city council has reached the decission to bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games after the great succes of Madrid 2012 2.gif, the met is a high one, and so the Urbanistic chairman has presented the location for the Olympic Ring and the Olympic Village, being the red and blue zone each.

    /idealbb/files/Ring
The Olympic Ring and the Olympic Village will be situated in North-Ring, in a zone wich was occupied by Industry that will be rezoned in North-North Ring connected to North Ring by an Av. and two new rail lines, the North Ring is opposite from R.I.T.A. (Ring International Airport wich is not shown on the pic) across town, but is well communicated by the ring rise highway and an el train-subway system. the dessicion will be made shortly. Stay tuned
