Cool, I did the exact same thing with my project in creating the 'perfect' community. Except ours had to be on a large asteroid

wow! That place is massive! It reminds me of what Atlanta Georgia or Chicago must look like from way up in the air! Very nice! I think it would be pretty cool if you did the idea about putting in 2 more cities and they would combine! Keep it up! -uncrazycooper

Well guys, thanks for your comments and ideas, i think i'll take on your idea frogface, though not as you propposed heh, for its way too dramatic, but a region park would be nice.

 

I've allso decided to enlarge the region adding two aditional cities to it. They will be built on the south corners of the region and Ring City. Next, is the pic of the urban plan son you can see what i was thinking for the first city, wich i've called Diaomond city.

 

Encircled in blue will be the heavy commerce sorrunded by the highway connecting with Ring City and Sim Nation, green are for residential areas and yellow for industry.

After about 5 hours playing the game, the city has allready grown to be like this:

Come to think about it, silver city seams like a mini mee of Ring City

Here you can see The Bastille Opera and the Dome des Invalides, a parisian touch to the city, here, also, you can see how the Sims are able to get to their jobs, they can only get there by the avenue and the highway that sourrounds the commercial zone, or by subway.

 

Here is The University, with its own chapel, and the beiball field wich is inside the universitary campus

 

Here's the city's Rail Main Station and the Met Life building, there's also the Round Park, made by seassonal forest.

 

P.S. the city has come to be the most poppulated in the region, getting to almost 700.000 sims in a medium city., with half the territory of commerce.

the city im working right now is what you would call a twin city of Silver city, and its called Diamond City, these two have become the most poppulated ones in the region, it has surprised even me!!

Thats awesome! I've never been able to get more then 250,000 people in one medium city tile and that is with barely any other kind of zoning! Keep it up! Can't wait to see your 2 new cities!

Yeah well, i allways make the high density cities first and then make the suburbs of them, of course the suburbs of this two cities are supossed to blend with the suburbs of Ring City wich is the large round one in the regional map, the idea of this two cities are basically to relive the zoning demand wich by the time Ring city was completed, there was almost no demand for residential and negative demand for commercial.

 

My next proyect along with the completion of the two cities is the construction of a large ringish park in Ring City that will suround the whole city joining all the neighborhoods.

Wonderfull!!!! Wonderfull!!!! It's a huge megapolis! I saw all your screen and I saw it to you! It's very realist. An dense downtown and all the suburbs in medium and low density! Also your olympic village is very a good idea! An beautifull city! I saw that one of the lots you used for your Olymipc village was made by mee! It's the small lot at the right! It's named SC4 Science museum iI think! I'm impressed that some people downloaded my lot and used them for their city!

First of all, Great design and development.

Noticed that Silver City is 35 yrs old and yet your city is made of 1/2 COM 1/2 RES. Did you
create industry early on in this city and swap it out w/ COM/RES or did the city go staight to
commercial development? I can't imagine you had that much commerce desirability with 700,000
people since it takes awhile to get the education level above 160.

Could you help? Your region has been a major influence
on how I design/stategize my regions.

First of all, thanx to all guys, specially to U-TURN its verry flattering that you use my work as a influence in your own work hope to see a CJ of your region anytime soon.

 

About your cuestions, yes, in the beginings of Silver City there was a small section on the north of the city that was zonned with high industry when the high res was in the south part of the city and then as the city grew bigger and the industry was moved out. But the reason why the city has grown quite big in short time, its because there was high desirability for RES and COM mainly because as you will eventually come to see, as your region expands and your region poppulation grows if you conect all the cities, you'll start to see how is less and less important the grade of education your city has in the begining cause the desirability will grow and grow in new cities.

 

In some way if you already have a region with more than a million would be my guess, every city you start from scratch will be easier to build than the first ever city in the region, but thats only if you conect all of the cities you've started.

This is some updates i've made

 

This the newly started Metropolitan Ring Park in its first phase, the park will envolve all the high density commercer and resindential of Ring City, this i have taken from an idea of frogface, thanx

 

This an update to the Olympic Ring making it more Olympic with the Beijing Stadium wich will be used in the 2008 Olympics and the communications tower by Calatrava used in the 92 Olympics in Barcelona.

Well, after Uploading all the cities and tearing down a lot of medium density buildings both commercial and residential the Metropolitan Ring Park has been finished, here is the result:

 

I don't know what you think guys, but i think the city has gain a lot with this park, you may say that it has linked the Olympic Ring with a lot more cities and nieghborhoods.

Thanks to all for your comments, and jocanaada, don't know if i can make my region downloadable, couse its already constructed, if anybody tell me if i can do this, i will do so.

 

So, i've been working on the suburbs of Diamond City, and just last night, with the construcction of them, my Region Ring City, has reached the 6.000.000 Sims, the largest yet that i have made to the date, and verry proud of it

 

 

Later on, i'll show them to you.
