High crime and airports

I've been playing Sim City for years and I've always had trouble with high crime rates coming directly in from the airport and whatever mass transit I have adjacent to it. So my question is, what's the best method to stop crime at the airport?

Not that I'm too fond of T.S.A. but this is a simulation after all :whatevs:

Airports are too large to be covered properly by police services, but the answer to this problem is to place a police kiosk along the ring road of the airport and the "Crime doesn't pay" mod.

For an international airport, I find that putting a Deluxe Police Station on both sides of the airport works very well. It works even better when you combine it with one of the city-wide police stations you can find on the STEX.

This characteristic of megalotes was widely discussed here by Ripplejet ...

:read: - Crime Bug in Megalots - Can we avoid them?

"The Dispatch Center Strength, Strength Outside the Dispatch Dispatch and the Radius determines the ability of the police to catch criminals.

Depending on how far from the street the crime is taking place, the police force has to move by foot to reach the criminals.

They leave as soon as Their car, the strength drops Rapidly though.

For Maxis' large police station, the dispatch center strength is 200/255 = 78% of the Relevant basic strength where They left Their car.

The dispatch Rapidly Decreases range down to only 20/255 = 8% of the strength where the car is. And the dispatch radius is only 48 m (3 tiles)..... "

In the post there are download links for stations with larger Strength Outside the Dispatch

put a kiosk at each corner of the airport, a small police precinct right by the parking lot, and a little ways off put a deluxe precinct that can cover the rest within the radius. Should solve your crime problem mostly. If not, invest in more education and health, those can contribute to a crime problem. I rarely have a crime problem in my cities, because I dot every residential neighborhood with an elementary and high school, as well as a library.

SimCity is still being developed, just because something isn't in the game right now, doesn't mean it won't be in the final game.

There will always be crime around a city, even with the help of But it helps. Placing four police stations on each side of the airport should suffice for the crime rate in easy. Also be ready to spend around a spare $500, or more. And there is no other way, unless there is a mod that cancels out crime rates.

These measures are a little extreme. I put one cop shop at the "far" corner of the airport and let the chips fall where they may. I usually have good police coverage anyway.

These measures are a little extreme.

It all depends on the city and airport size.

I put one cop shop at the "far" corner of the airport and let the chips fall where they may. I usually have good police coverage anyway.

If I were to do that in my cities, I would get solid red in the whole airport in the Crime View. This does not have a good effect on the surrounding area.

Maybe because the few airports I use are the default ones. Custom airports, IMHO, are a waste of space which is at a premium in SC4.

i was experimenting and i was able to make something like this

although i'm not really sure with this method,

drag a road around the airport and place at least one police station on each side

except for the main road connection to the rest of the city, demolish or disconnect the corner roads

this is so that the police car routes remain on their respective side and not end up going pass
