Pre-order -> Beta?

Hi everyone,

I've already pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe version of the new SimCity game and I was watching the broadcast a few minutes ago (which got me even more stoked) and I saw they announced a beta.

I would like to ask if I am able to play the beta since I pre-ordered the game. I paid 80 euro's so I guess the answer is 'Yes, you can' but I want to be sure. I can't find the answer on the official site.

Thanks,

BlueSmiley :golly:

You have to register for the beta separately. That can be done here.

    Ok, seems like Maxis is taking this thing seriously then. Very good.

    Thanks for the answer, sir!

    I do wish pre-ordering were a ticket to the beta; it would give me a lot more incentive to do so, as the superhero content stuff means nothing to me xD So far as I know though, it's entirely random selection from the people who register for it. Though I'd hope they make a handful of manual-picks for people who've been particularly invested in development #selfish >_>

    It's starting to sound like the beta's still going to be a ways out, though. I think they initially planned to open it pretty soon, but became concerned with some of the negative feedback they were getting regarding screenshots/news/etc, and decided they wanted a more complete product before releasing things to the public. Which I can't blame them for. We ARE pretty bloodthirsty, haha.

    Yes, the beta seems to be further away than I thought since they even didn't give a rough time frame. I'm not sure that it is because of the feedback, the strategy video they released earlier this week did a lot to ease some of the unrest. Some hands-on experience is probably better that all the speculations floating around.Too bad the "live chat" was such a misnomer for this event. Hopefully the report of yesterday's visit and the region play video will brighten the mood again.

    I'm all for waiting longer for the beta if it means a better game.

    They were probably terrified by the prospect of real Sim City fans getting their hands on the beta in its current form.
