There have been too many requests in the official CBT thread and it's getting too long, so this will be the CBT request thread. Please only request stuff in this thread. Our current list of stuff to do and what's done is below.

Members:

Darn42

Skyscraper241

Bipin

Wishlist, Primary:

333 wacker drive

Wrigley Building

Carbon and Carbide Building

Mather Tower

Aqua

One Museum Park

Museums

Wrigley field

CNA Center

Rookery Building (I call this one)

Lake point tower

Wishlist, Secondary:

311 Wacker Drive

Old Water Tower

Board of Trade Building

Aon Center (not priority, already on STEX)

In progress:

Onterie Center (Skyscraper241)

Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House (Darn42)

Harold Washington Library (Darn 42)

Finished:

The guidelines for requesting are:

The name of the building, the picture of the building, and why it is a good building to be done (architecture, cultural impact, would look good, etc.)

Remember, this is a small group and our BATs take a very long time, so if you do request something it will probably not get done for a very very long time, so if you do request something, try and keep it relatively small scale (NOT something like O'hare airport...) and make sure to check the list before you request.

Yay! I am so glad that the Lake Point Tower is on this list! And I am also very fond of 311 Wacker, that tower has a very commanding presence! ^_^ Arigato for considering Lake Point Tower!

I'd like to suggest some Chicago style bungalows.

flash3.jpg

There are entire blocks full of them in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs such as Berwyn. Their uniform look allows multiple variants of the same house to be made into entire packs of houses.

I'd like to see a decent Trump Tower made:

225px-20090518_Trump_International_Hotel_and_Tower,_Chicago.jpg

There are quite a few on the STEX, but either they're poorly textured, or just bad looking.

And this is Where I would put my signature.

If I had one!

The bungalows could definitely be done. From what I've seen of Bipin's work, he seems to be a spectacular suburban house maker and I think he already has some chicago houses planned to be made.

As for trump tower, kellydale is making a trump tower right now, and I would be mistaken if I said I could do it better than he.

wegnaiorga: can you please read the op -.- that's already on the list.

btw guys, please follow soviet russia and pielover's example of requesting. It's a lot nicer to read something thought out about why we should something than just the name of the building.

Maybe "Legacy at Millenium Park?" I feel like it will match with all those glass high rises in SimCity 4 perfectly

LOL, guess my request for O'Hare made quite the impression!

I would like to recommend some buildings from the Frank Lloyd Wright historic district in Oak Park, as well as some of the houses in Oak Park's western neighbor, River Forest. Many of these houses have obvious Wright influences, and would look fantastic in a suburb or in someone's CJ.

For example, the Unity Temple at the corner of Lake Street and Kenilworth Avenue (875 W Lake):

There are schematic diagrams available for you online.

Also, Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio at 951 Chicago Ave (just east of Harlem Avenue):

    hs-chicago-avenue-2.jpg

For the houses, here is a nice example, though this particular one doesn't look like a Frank Lloyd Wright. I just think the game could use more upscale housing choices for suburbs.

I would definitely love to do some FLW. I have the beginnings of a robie house that I've put on hiatus for now, but I will finish it eventually.

If anyone needs photo closeups / references of certain buildings, let me know. I'm happy to provide assistance. I live near Water Tower place close by many of the requested buildings.

My only BAT model contribution is a half finished 360 N. Michigan Ave. But I have track record of not being very reliable completing models. But photos I can def provide.

Oh, I remember seeing that now.

If you need pictures of any buildings in the near west suburbs, I live there and could probably get you some.

Most of the buildings requested here should be easy to model. Just a quick check showed floor plans and elevations for reference in the HABS database. It's free and the drawings are very highres

Hmm... highres free floorplans from HABS you say? I googled the HABS thing and I find it confusing to navigate the site to find those floorplans. How would I go about finding floorplans for buildings? ex: I want to find daley center floor plans, as that may well be my next BAT.

I used to live in Oak Park and go to Unity Temple, I'll be visiting in a few weeks and could visit this places and take some pictures of these places if diagrams weren't adequate reference material.

Right now, I'm really without any task regarding CBT. And I would like to start a new building while I'm trying to get the old one run again. The problem is, that everything that has been added to the wishlist looks great. So let's say, the first person that is pming me with his whish is going to get his building :D

My absolute favorite Chicago building is 35 E Wacker.

Known for years as the Jewelers Building, it has (or had, I'm not sure if it is still functional) an elevator where the workers could drive their car right into the building and be taken up to the different parking levels.

It reminds me a bit of the Administration Building from the 1893 Columbian Exposition:

(By the way, there are a ton of buildings from the exposition that would be tremendous to have in SC4 too, most notably the Administration building, but there are lots of others as well!!)

Finally, I don't think any Chicago BAT set would be complete without The Bean (properly known as Cloudgate, but only the architecture buffs in Chicago know/mention the real name!)

Old Chicago Main Post Office Redevelopment: it is a proposed building in chicago at

433 West Van Buren. even though it is considered a stale proposal, it would dominate every city and is still a cool design for a complex
