Sim city 4 steam on steam users, please help

Hi, i bought sim city 4 in 2008 and played the game. now after 4 years, i felt like playing the game again, so i bought it on steam the (deluxe edition) .

But its completely different than the one i bought 4 years ago,

for example

the one before, use to give me more residential building options, i remember their was to many buildings to choose from, now i only have 3 options

second, i use to do business with neighbours, now it ask me to create another city to do business with

third, i remember dealing with tourist, i check their needs and their feed back, now i cant.

fourth, i remember building farms and military bases etc.

so what am i missing?

is their another sim city 4 version? do i need to download some add-ons?

please help

1: low, medium, high density. What?

2: You cannot do business with a blank tile.

3: You need to insert a sim to a residential building.

4. Use the "You Don't Deserve It" cheat, or lose money for the military base, and build farms under the industrial menu.

first, i only get three options in the residential ( low, medium high density ) only. nothing else, but i do remember from before i had more building options, more then 10 buildings to build, good looking buildings, old ones, to many options)

Second, with the industry, i only get 3 options too ( agricultural, medium, high) that's the only 3 options i get. no farm

do i need to keep playing and reach a higher populations so i can get more options?

From what I understand, the options are random. Zone either low, medium, or high density (your ONLY options), or agricultural, medium, or high density industrial to achieve different types of buildings.

There should be no difference between the SimCity 4 games found in retail, and the ones found in Steam.

As for your menu options, you were probably thinking of another game. I don't recall any SimCity game where you were offered more than three options for building residential or industrial.

maybe you are right, i guess i was playing some other game . i dont know why i always had in mind it was sim city 4

Sounds like something similar but not at all the same. Perhaps SC3K, which was quite different.

The military base is a reverse reward. You only get it if you are going broke, and if you don't be careful, it will help you do it.
