Ok, I'm pretty sure its called Citilizy or something close to that. First of all, I have definately partaken being paid for  weaknesses in order to make the transportation system.

/idealbb/files/Citilizyovr11.jpg

As you can see, I have the center section connected to the two outer ones by a highway bridge and a railway. There is only two connections to the highway from the center penninsula and one main road with two supporting roads augmented by streets. Also using my long grid style, see how it goes. Currently Citizily is around 2500.. Putting in the water system right now. Probably gonna put in a landfill/WTE plant soon as well. Comments are welcomed. 1.gif

Will post more later on.

Very nice terraforming, Engineer Adley. Should have put down more trees in God mode, I think... but I like the bridges!

Now, Lets try this again.. I had my reply all typed up.. and the server decides to  eat it up and choke for a minute.

Now, as I was saying, I spent a long time trying to get the bridges right. the nearer one looms over a site for a beach.

Anyway, I intentionally created a bottleneck at the highway bridges, that one connecting freeway access road has to serve for the entire far side of the map and for the other side. Depending upon the feedback I get, I may put a few passenger stations on the rail line to augment the flow over to the far side of the map. The central area is served by 2 freeway access connecctions, one at either end of the central road. The left corner will be and landfill in due time, mayhaps with some WTE plants as well.

When I SS more detailed areas, like the rivers, you''ll notice that the powerlines keep their normal overland look, and you''ll also notice a bug dealing with the short rail bridge approaches.

As Citilizy is already being developed, I''ll also show the traffic layout to give you an idea of the streets/roads look. I''m currently building the watering system and stuff so I''ll post more pics later.

Call this the bottleneck city if you want

    Citizily Updater:

Citizily appears stable to immigrants, who use the city''s proximity to a highway to pour in by the droves. The mayor has finished part of the water system but sadly has not yet filled the western part of the map. The mayor is planning for the future with a hospital and college already in place, however, the city is lacking in schools in spite of the 3 it has already besides the college and library.

    Seen here is the overview.

At least, I think its the over view.. bah, pictures appear in no real order. Theres commute time one.. high traffic areas before I changed to roads from streets in congested areas. Pollution data. Pics of the two bottle necks and a rail bridge graphic bug.

This being my first serious attempt at a big city is kinda daunting, education and health still isnt too good, hopefully it will get better tho.
    Feedback always welcome.

The pic with the rail bridge - is that intentionally disconnected?

You have to remember to keep a decent base of R

No, its supposed to connected.. didnt rotate around and ss from diff angle.. thanx for reminding me tho. I''m kinda frustrated at the city because I didnt know how soon HT would be wanted. And the health and eq are still horrific looking, even tho I have full funding for everything. And the schools arent even used much.. Might be that I got no mueseum yet.. Hmm, theres still hope I think.. build more farms. then use up all that space.

Ah yes, straight to the pics. two explain the railbug on that one bridge. Commute time is around 40 minutes. Getting a little traffic pollution. Income per resident is going higher, creeping on 35k. traffic is moderate where I expected traffic to be...

I ashould apologize to modem users like myself.. Maybe I need to lower the ingame res [play at 1024x768].

Anyway, these are the bottleneck at the bridges, not too bad yet with traffic.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizybotlneck1vw2.jpg

You ever looked at your beach at night and discovered people roasting marshmellows over a fire on the beach at night? I thought this unique.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizybeachfires.jpg

And city hall with the mayor house in the background. May be rearranging things in the future.

Not bad. What density are you at? Are you providing water? What are you going to do with the right side?

I do expect that you will rezone that agricultural area?

well, the way I planned it out in my head, was the center for most of the Rs, and either side for C/I.

I''m mostl;y using High density Res, prolly rezone what isnt HD to HD soon cept for the banks of the rivers..

Watered? Yes, been watered since nearly the begining, just finished water system for the last open area..

I dunno if I''ll rezone  or not yet I know its loss of tax earning with the farms, but it keeps R$ busy.

Health is a bit better.. for the one alf of the road.. need to put another hospital in. Plan on looking to perhaps improve the traffic a tad. I''m thinking about putting HT mainly on the last open side..

have you thought about putting the Commercial on the ends of those islands (like the one in the middle) so they get more traffic from the residential zones. So instead of a vertical set up like this : I R C which you have now, you''d have somethign more horizontal:
    I C R
    I R R
    I C R/C

    Just a thought

Well, I wanted to do it like

    I/c

    R/C/R

    I/c

I might do it that way on the next bottleneck city I do tho.

Well, I''ve decided that I''ve done things a tad off.

For instance, I didnt  look at the airport sizes till tonight. Simply aint gonna stuff one in.

Also, when I rezoned a few places, no job zots appeared, and some havent gone away. I started putting some of the comercial amounst the Ind and that went alright.

Theres also something to be said for a small city.. You dont have to  go very far to get where your going. I might do this type of thing on a big map, but depends on the feedback I get from this last buncha shots.

Milkman, you wondered about traffic. Freeway bridges arent showing orange, but the ways to it sure are fairly colored. Best way to do what I''m thinking your intent was is to do this on a large map. Generally with the same things, one freeway connection on the R/C section and maybe two on the I sections.

    Anyway... Pics...
Thios is after I got the univ and radio station.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizybotlneck1vw3.jpg
Commute went up about 20min. Ah well.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizycomtimvw3.jpg
Water pollution.. Had to rezone where the most of the yellow orange was for the towers to function.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizyh2opol.jpg
    Health, 2 hospitals.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizyhlth.jpg
    Some very heavy traffic.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizyhvytraf.jpg
Income went up about 10k a person
    /idealbb/files/Citilizyincome.jpg
    air pollution.. and traffic pollution.
    /idealbb/files/Citilizypollvw3.jpg
    More pics...

Well, my next aim will prolly end up being getting a highway maxed with traffic That shall require a large map.

    As far this... The traffic.

Feedback is appreciated.. Even tho this city really seemed to be rather exhausting to me. I did enjoy its construction. the planning mode for me is one of the things I love to do, even if it requires I use cheats to do it. I still enjoy planning out the transportation and terrain. Tis only the grueling management role after that for especially a Larger city that gets me exhausted of interest quicker. Mayhaps I should do this on a small map next...

Or if suggestions are given about Citilizy and how to better manage the city, I may continue with it.. rightnow tho, I see being stuck. Please, offer input.

FavreKev, you are looking at a journal which is very old - more than two years old, in fact. it has not even been updated in that time, so chances are, Adley does not even have this region on his computer anymore.

the pictures will not show up because the Simtropolis system automatically deletes them after one year.
