removing a custom BAT

Hi there !

I would like to know if I can remove a custom BAT from my plugin folder without making the game crash or something like that while it's in use in several of my cities (I would like to remove the millenium technologies BAT cause it's not appearing and i got empty concrete squares each time it grows because i didn't managed to find the right dependencies).

If I remove it from the plugin folder and then start the game, what will happen in my cities where it was in use ?

Generally, you should remove the SC4 model first, then the lot and the DESC. Removing the model causes empty lots/brown boxes to occur so you could demolish them out easily before removing the lot files. Deleting undemolished lot/desc files will cause various CTDs.

The game might crash but most likely you will get a brown box where the item is. You can test this if you just move the plugin to another folder. If you crash, put it back, and find all instances, delete them and then remove it.

When playing with plugins I never just delete them. I always keep a copy.

And while you are at it, back up your entire Documents\SimCity 4 folder.

    hi !

thanks for answers ! so yeah it'll be a bit difficult to do it in the right way cause i got 8 cities and this BAT appear almost 15 times in each ones so it'll be a bunch of work to remove it properly, I think i'll just try more to find the dependencies of the millenium technologies ( an IHT bat with 10000 jobs, maybe if you know which dependencies is needed)

I think it's not even on this site (there is a millenium technology 2 here, which seem to be an improvment of the first I got but doesn't match) anyway I did what both of u told me first, removing desc files and sc4lot etc... and it worked ! without crashing :D ,after that I opened my cities and just had to destroy those empty bat and Millenium Tech doesn't grow anymore !

anyway here I come with another related question :

I got a really big IHT job demand but I'm a bit fed-up of zoning industrial zone cause density is really lower than residential and commercial buildings, so at the end I get more than 2/3 of my maps covered by industrial zones, is there any good custom BAT that provide lot's of IHT jobs ? best I could find was a 1200 jobs BAT (really good looking one either) but I got only one custom, rest is in-game BATS which are a bit "tiny".

Watch out for the demand graph. It is not about jobs but about zoning.

Wow, I can't believe I never thought of this. This would make things so much easier than finding the instances one by one. Thank you! :bunny:

In addition to custom BATs, you can download mods to increase the amount of demand satisfied by each Maxis Industrial building.

There is the {Industry Quadrupler} (you'll need to register at that site and then post in the thread; the download link is broken), and there's also the {Industry Doubler} here on the STEX.

    If you want your I-HT to be used to their full potential, also download and apply the I-H patch which will allow for R$$$ sims to work in your High Tech buildings, as Maxis intended. You can find the download link and instructions to apply the patch {here}

    Hi there !

thanks guys for your help, the fact is I started back a new city in my region and I get the most concerned about my industry zoning, attractivity, good place and network around freight stations, industrial seaport etc... and the fact is : I was playing wrong with my industry zoning before that ! xD :s .

Now everything work as good as hell for my industry ! (and I didn't recalled but i'd already added some growable $$ and $$$ huge industry BAT that i never seen before cause my zones weren't "good" enough for them to grow, especially two from a japanese modder i think, might be "Somy", that provided around 6000 IHT jobs for one BAT, and are gorgeous as hell, one looks like a sort Evangelion base and the other one is huge a dark blue cubic structure with labs inside) and some more that i've never seen before are still appearing xD )

So now everything works like a charm, I got as much ind zone as resident zone and it's perfect (and my industrial are nicer to watch :3 )
