Keyboard macros.

I use the 4 lane medianless avenue puzzle piece from NWM all the time. I thought I'd save myself time by making a macro. It takes fourteen presses of the TAB button to navigate to the puzzle piece in question. I created a macro that would automate and speed up this process but even though the macro works outside of SC4, it won't work whilst I play the game. It's only recognised as a single button presses. Can anyone help me out/does anyone else use macros in SC4?

1. I never heard of anyone using button-press macros for SC4...

2a. You do know that you can tab backwards, right? (TAB + SHIFT)

2b. Tabbing backwards instead means that you'd have to go through the TLA-3, TLA-7, AVE-6, and RD/MAVE-6 instead.

I'm using a macro aswell for scrolling through the menus faster... nothing new

but I'm not sure about how to implement a certain number of button strokes...

what program are you using for this and how does your makro look like?

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I believe the game grabs the keyboard entirely from the O/S, and there really is no room for any keyboard macros. Your best way to get to things near the end of tab rings is to back up using Shift-Tab. You would have to find a way to inject keystroke images directly into the keyboard buffer to make this work.

Thanks for the replies. I'm using the most up to date version of Logitech Setpoint... oh and a Logitech G11. It's a shame macros don't work but thanks for mentioning Shift+TAB, I didn't know about that.

Interesting thing about Shift+TAB is that it is a standard mechanism for most windows. Every programmer knows that, but many people don't pay enough attention to windows navigation to realize you can always tab through a form in either direction. Some programmers don't fix up the tab order on their forms however, and this can cause problems for production operators in a data capture scenario for example. A programmer can also disallow tabbing between windows since this is just a property of the form/control object.

When programming a form, about the last thing you do is set up the tab order. Many amateurs forget to do this.

The TAB key was around long before mice.
