I had no idea you could do this!, i spend a lot of time making up city names an mayors for each individual tile on a region , now i see from the forum's here that people play an entire region, so how do you get rid of each indiviual tile and make a combined region that only needs one name and one mayor for the whole lot?if that is the case.

i'd be fasinated to find out, seems i'm only scraching the surface of this game.

suggestions please.

Wait... do you mean people playing a city as the whole region? This is impossible, never seen it, seriously. Also i'd panic seeing the CPU panicking for the overusage...

You can play an entire region, you will just have to swap between all the cities every now and then, you're not able to play an entire region as one city (though that would be cool).

The people that seem like they are playing like this are realli just playing multiple cities, but have just smoothly developed areas so that it looks like a whole region has been developed, when really it is just multiple, seperate cities. Also, you can get rid of city boundaries making it look like there are no borders around your cities, helping to create a smooth transition from city to city. For example, this is a region shot of my old city, it is actually about 3x3 large city tiles, but because I have somewhat used the same city plans in each tile, and removed city borders, it looks like one giant city. Hope this helps.

It is incorrect that one can play the whole region concurrently. You simply run each city, switching as needed. I often have a single city that is connected through several neighbor connections so that it appears to be one city. The important thing here is to switch frequently. I do not have a huge plugin suite, so this happens fairly quickly, and I think if enough stuff is laying about in the page tables it is helped in loading. Frequent shifts help keep pages active.

You could not possibly run a complete region considering that a city eats the whole processor. A region would need a hypercube.

so now i know, guess i got the wrong end of the stick, sorry all, i was eager for a change, i've found the satalite view for the whole region and it looks great, i've got three quaters through fairvew and got 265k population but the RCI is still bottoming out and i have to surround big citys with farms, and plop a small population in each to run the farms- i'm still trying to make smaller towns to connect across the region, still its coming along.

Try my technique of small towns scattered across large city tiles. Works like a dream. You get the first one in the black and then run a balancing act with the rest.

Eventually, these towns tend to merge into a city, and it gets to be hard to stop them from doing so. Towns on the borders tend to become associated with each other and, of course, the regional demand propagates with each neighbor connection.

My style is about one major central city and all the surrounding suburbia and tows, making an eye-candy outskirt of the city.
