I guess I'm too quiet of a follower of your CJ, but I really do enjoy the layout of your towns and rural areas.  I especially like your use of hedges and wooded areas to box in farms and small towns.

EDIT

22 pages!  Way to go! 44.gif

I work for the US Army. I go places, visit mean people, and kill them.

Winston Churchill is generall credited for saying something to the effect of: "People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf". That about sums up my life, besides the "rough men" part.

    Thanks for the replies!

    amal81 - thank you very much for your help in geting on to the next page...2.gif It's not meant to look like Norwich, UK, as I said on page 1 I just named it Norwich because I like living here so much. Perhaps one day I will try and recreate Norwich for real.

    meinhosen - thank you, I have tried to reflect real English rural areas, but I am a beginner in such areas on Sim City, so your praise means very much to me. Thanks!

    jacqulina - congrats on becoming a Dignitary!

    Burgh St. Margaret & Banningtree - Twin Towns Grow Ready To Support Coastal Metropolis

    Hello again everyone and welcome to the latest update. We are continuing on our northward path from Chipping Norton, through Bayswater Broad and now to an area close to the region's main waterway the River Hex - Burgh St. Margaret & Banningtree.

    Our first picture here is the A201, which you may remember stemmed from the M2 back at Chipping Norton and has run northward to the west of Bayswater Channel ever since. Past the villages of Upton and Neaton Turf, it now enters the Burgh St. Margaret & Banningtree area close to a water tower.....

    <ahttp://img265.echo.cx/img265/6817/banningtree11iw.jpg align=baseline>

    Farms have arrives on both sides of the road as it runs parallel to Bayswater Channel.....

    <ahttp://img248.echo.cx/img248/1589/banningtree20le.jpg align=baseline>

    We can turn right from the main road into the A2012, Banningtree High Street.....

    <ahttp://img265.echo.cx/img265/12/banningtree35jf.jpg align=baseline>

    Roadsign.....

    <ahttp://img16.echo.cx/img16/9126/banningtree6xl.jpg align=baseline>

    Now we will take a tour around the town of Banningtree. A short way along the High Street are some homes. At the top of the picture is a pathway.....

    <ahttp://img248.echo.cx/img248/1029/banningtree42mq.jpg align=baseline>

    As we swing to a south-facing perspective, we can see the pathway leading in between some offices & Banningtree Town Hall, and Banningtree Town Football Club.....

    <ahttp://img248.echo.cx/img248/9595/banningtree55zb.jpg align=baseline>

    Banningtree Town FC's treasurer has already received 32 invoices from local residents to replace broken panes of glass. The pathway allows parents to take young children to games without the threat of traffic on the busy road.....

    <ahttp://img231.echo.cx/img231/8717/banningtree66yf.jpg align=baseline>

    Banningtree Baptist Church stands opposite a flower garden.....

    Some homes on the hill sloping towards the river.....

    This CJ truly is Awe-Inspiring! Your attention to detail is amazing.....if only I had the patience for that!

    I was only able to look through about half of this CJ (it's 22 pages long, for cryin' out loud) but I have seen enough to know that you are very gifted in creating cities. Keep up the great work! You've got me hooked! 48.gif

    wow, andrew george, the amount of work you put into your cities is staggering...even the little things: for instance, that has to be one of the simplest, yet most realistic sports parks i've seen. many seem so packed together, yet yours, with the green area spread between the sports complexes...that is so realistic. you are doing a fantastic job here...and i love your farms. keep up the great work.

    Some fantastic comments today, you make me embarrassed...!

    rooker1 - thank you very much.

    Alabaster - welcome to Norwich, it is a long way back to the start isn't it!!!? You are too kind with your praise.

    jacqulina & mike_oxlong - thanks for the good wishes, I'm gonna need 'em!!!

    MrCinatit - welcome back. Thasnks for the comment about the sports parks. As a footballer, there's nothing worse than trying to concentrate on the game while the ball from the next pitch whistle into view towards you - I inevitably get so confused I end up on my arse and the ball's in my team's net.

    Thanks again everyone.

    Hexmouth Founded As The Region Infringes On The Hex Estuary

    Hello to all and a very warm welcome to the latest update. In this update we take a look at the latest area to be built in the Norwich area, Hexmouth, which has been conceived as Bayswater's northern suburb. This is as far east as it's possible to be without being in a coastal area, and the estuary of the River Hex has arrived meaning a wider, deeper waterway.

    First of all, if we take the A2 north from Banningtree Roundabout (see previous update) we arrive in the farmlands of Hollinghithe. The A2241 to the left leads to the Witham area in the south-east of Cowdeswell & Elmermouth. This area is littered with water towers, which have been built as the population of Hexmouth has grown.....

    hexmouth13nq.jpg

    We continue on the A2 and beyond the farms we reach the junction with the A2242 - leading to the village of Hollinghithe.....

    hexmouth23hi.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    hollinghithe4iz.jpg

    Hollinghithe was the very first area settled in this region, and some very nice homes have developed.....

    hexmouth32dh.jpg

    .....and some more, close to the main road.....

    hexmouth48ul.jpg

    Returning to the A2, we are about to reach one of Hexmouth's key industrial areas. Bayswater is well into it's final planning phases, and there is not much room for industry in the city itself. Therefore, Hexmouth has taken a large responsibility for the provision of such employment, as well as the electricity requirements for the city.....

    hollinghithepowerstation7zz.jpg

    Hollinghithe Power Station consists of 8 large clean electricity generators, producing some 400,000 MWh per month. It has an extensive front car park for employees in the main office and visitors to the site, and each generator has it's own car park for employees working in them. It is surrounded by a perimeter wall, and is currently supplying power for Hexmouth, Cowdeswell & Elmermouth, Burgh St. Margaret & Banningtree, and in the future Bayswater also.....

    .....pt. 3 and the road leads us to Hollinghithe Point.....

    hexmouth85nh.jpg

    Hollinghithe Point & Lighthouse.....

    hexmouth92cs.jpg

    Now we head back through Hexmouth Industrial Estate.....

    hexmouth105mo.jpg

    .....and towards the A2 at Hexmouth Bridge.....

    hexmouth111al.jpg

    We turn back onto the A2 and cross the Bayswater Channel via Hexmouth Bridge.....

    hexmouth128cy.jpg

    hexmouthbridge1jq.jpg

    Just across the bridge is the last junction before the A2 becomes the A2(M) motorway. Turning left provides access to Brownside.....

    Greenstead Shopping Centre, providing a fulfilling shopping experience for all.....

    hexmouth158rz.jpg

    Heading into Hexmouth from junction 1 you pass by Brownside Playing Fields and the surrounding condos.....

    hexmouth161iw.jpg

    In this shot of Central Hexmouth we find Hexmouth Market infront of Hexmouth Central Station, Essence F.M. Radio Station and Hexmouth Commodities Exchange.....

    hexmouth172cr.jpg

    Central Hexmouth's High Street is the mainstay of the city's commercial capacity.....

    hexmouth182ck.jpg

    The commercial centre becomes the suburb of King's Grove.....

    hexmouth198rq.jpg

    Junction 2 provides access to Hexmouth General Hospital, as well as the A27 and the A251.....

    hexmouth201xq.jpg

    Roadsign.....

    junction20kp.jpg

    This area is King's Grove's eastern end.....

    hexmouth214st.jpg

    Just to the north is an area around an inlet of water called Tyler's Ferry.....

    hexmouth225kg.jpg

    King's Grove's western end.....

    hexmouth238nc.jpg

    Working back from junction 2, here is a pic with labels to clarify the road layout.....

    hexmouth240ix.jpg

    Follyhill Industrial Estate covers both sides of the A2 (M) as it heads south into Bayswater.....

    hexmouth259in.jpg

    The area of Follyhill, with it's Playing Field and Parish Church. The occasional hi-rise office is not uncommon as this is a densely populated area, despite it not having the condo blocks of central Hexmouth.....

    hexmouth261jw.jpg

    Morden Park is a quiet neighbourhood close to the farms in the south-western corner of Hexmouth. It has struggled to keep pace as Hexmouth has moved rapidly towards a commercially-minded hub.....

    hexmouth278hb.jpg

    As we continue back towards the east of the city we reach the area of Greenstead, which sits between the Royal College Of Nursing and Hexmouth University.....

    hexmouth287ls.jpg

    Brownside Station, and the southern end of Brownside.....

    hexmouth296yr.jpg

    Hollinghithe, with budget view.....

    Hexmouth by night.....

    Thanks for looking around, please let me know what you think!

    Many thanks again folks.

    Region pics. Norwich has reached a population of over three and three-quarter million, yay.

    Population league table, it's becoming very difficult to move up this thing, and I've been doing it so long that it's probably well out-of-date, however.....3.gif
