You'll find many of my lots in the SimMars topics. Here you'll see the most hideous lots ever made, all made by me. Some of them just for fun, other... more serious.

I'm still working with the Barsoom Project, which will bring the SimMars buildings on Earth as well. The released in January and now I'm working in part 2. Part 2 is about replacing all Maxis buildings with SimMars buildings and making all Maxis lots more futuristic. No more ugly wooden homes and boring mansions in the cities of the future. I'm also working on Martian lots for SimMars Beta 3. Pictures are coming soon...

    Let's go back to Earth. I'm working in modification of the original Maxis lots, by replacing as many game components as possible with futuristic custom-made components. So far the dependencies I'm using are Eagleland Project Lot Textures, BLaM Overpath Props Volume 1, BSC MEGA Props SG Vol 01, PEG-MTP SUPER PACK, PORKIE PROPS VOL1 EUROPEAN STREET ACCESSORIES, RadicalOne Studios Volvo VN770 Props, BSC MEGA Props CP Vol01, Light Replacement Mod (LRM) v4.0 Mega Pack and Sim Mars Domes Props Only. Please don't complain about the number of dependencies...

    Inspired by Arthur C. Clarke's novel The City and the Stars (1956), all cemeteries replaced by Memory Banks and Halls of Creation. In the future, maybe in a not very far one, genetic engineering and nanotechnology will cancel the death and Sims will live for ever. This however will bring devastating psychological and overpopulation problems, but there is a solution.

    A human being, like any other object, is defined by its structure, its pattern. The pattern of a human, and still more the pattern which specifies a human's mind, is incredibly complex. Yet Nature was able to pack that pattern into a tiny cell, too small for the eye to see. The D.N.A. from our hair contain enough informations to create a human. What Nature can do, humanity will also do it, in his own way. Genetics, quantum computers and nanotech will allow us to analyze and store all the informations that would define any specific human being, and to use that information to re-create the original one. Today we have C.D.s and U.S.B.s to store all song of Scorpions (just an example). Tomorrow we'll be able to store themselves, the disembodied patterns from which they could be called back into existence.

    This is the way we'll have virtual immortality, yet avoided the problems raised by the abolition of death. 1,000 years in one body is long enough for any human. At the end of that time, his/her mind is clogged with memories and he/she asks only for rest... or a new beginning. The people in the future will not buried in cemeteries. They'll go back through their memories, editing them and canceling those they do not wish to keep. Then they'll walk into the Hall of Creation. There old bodies will cease to exist, and so will consciousness themselves. Nothing will be left of them, but a galaxy of electrons frozen in the heart of a crystal.

    Then one day, perhaps 100,000 years from now, they'll find themselves in new bodies and lifestyles. They will have new and different friends and interests, but their old selves will still exist. In the cities of the future, only 1% of the citizens will live and walk in the streets. The rest 99% slumber in the Memory Banks, waiting for the signal that will call them forth onto the stage of existence once again. The result is continuity, yet change-immortality, but not stagnation.

    In this future, the Maxis cemeteries will not fit at all. This is why I relot them into Memory Banks and Halls of Creation.

    Let's keep on with the Barsoom Project. Building a city of the future on Earth? Established a colony on an extrasolar Earth-like planet, like Kepler 22-b? Did you finally terraform planet Mars? For any case, you need more futuristic buildings. Sadly however there are only a few of them, mostly plopable. Many folks made modern cities and then just add a spaceship and bang! A future city! No way... A chocolate chip in a vanilla cake is not enough to turn it into a chocolate cake. We need something more drastic and radical ;)

    has tons of awesome buildings, but they are incompatible for green environments... until now. is the first pack of the Barsoom Project. All buildings from SimMars will finally be compatible on green environments. No more red barren lots with dust, but green lots with grass, trees, Sims, birds etc. And this is only the first pack...

    Now I'm working on the second pack, which will relot all hundreds Maxis lots. I began this project from last year, but now it's time for reworking. Until now the dependencies are PEG-MTP SUPER PACK, BSC MEGA Props CP Vol01, and

    But wait a minute! Why the low wealth homes have so nice and green lots? Why there are no more fences? What the heck is going on with those trees? And why there are some Maxis homes still appearing? All those questions will be answered soon. Just have in mind that will be more "strange" than the lots themselves :D :D

    I promised some answers...

    ... so here we go, an explanation-tutorial about reloting the Maxis lots. Just using a Maxis blocker to build future cities is easy, but how about changing all hundreds of lots?

    My work as you can see is not just replacing the Maxis buildings with SimMars content, but bringing all the original lots to the word of tomorrow. Using the modern reality to predict the tomorrow reality is the reason of why the 1912 flocks didn't predict the United Nations and the Internet, so I need something different and awesome. This is why all lots will get the inspiration from the Venus Project, the most complex and radical idea about the future. By declaring all natural resources as common legacy for everyone on Earth and by unlocking the powers of science, technology and human mind, problems like pollution and crime will be just bad jokes.

    Making the resources common for all people, money will be useless. Poor and rich people will not exist anymore into the future, only people. This is why all my lots will be green, futuristic and without fences. Mansions and slums will still exist, because of the engine of Simcity 4, but ghettos and high society zones will not exist anymore. In fact, my project will turn the cities from this...

    By having the ideas of V.P. in my mind, let's relot some lots. This is a stage 7 R$$ apartment building. In order to not mess too much with the development, the lot MUST be stage 7, no matter what.

    So is there a SimMars apartment building, big enough for stage 7? Yes, there is. Let' replace the Maxis building with a SimMars one.

    Cool, more futuristic diversity. You'll not have the same building taking over the city.

    But what about lots with no suitable SimMars building? Here is an example, a stage 7 R$ apartment building. I test all R$ SimMars buildings, but the results were stage 8 or 6 or 5... you get it.

    So the only solution is using a Maxis building, an as suitable as possible one, and remove the misery feeling from the lot. Here it is, trees and cleaner ground. To make it more realistic and less possible to be constructed, the building will appear only in corner.

    Terring, don't you dare say these lots are terrible! These are really creative and well done! This project is quite an undertaking - relotting all Maxis lots to be futuristic - and you are doing a great job. Keep it up, buddy! :)

    The industries of the future will be much cleaner and mostly automatic, with robots doing all the dangerous and boring tasks. This is unacceptable in the modern monetary economy, but it's a vital part of the resource-based economy proposed by the Venus Project. The people of tomorrow will be free from slavery and deadly accidents.

    Those "multi access industrial robots" will utilize vast information resources, which will enable them to receive commands via satellite up-link or on-site. They can also be designed to take appropriate actions in the absence of human directives, by combining an array of sensors and receivers with sophisticated decision making abilities. They will be capable of handling a wide range of industrial production tasks, and will be able to upgrade their level of service and replace defective or worn parts. These mega robots will communicate with one another to coordinate delivery of the required materials for each project.

    At the same time, Nanotechnology will combines optics and lasers and eventually enable us to assemble matter, atom by atom, into whatever molecular structure is needed. Nanotechnology will lead to a sub-microscopic revolution in all fields, including the way in which we conduct human affairs.

    Having those awesome ideas in my mind, I replace all Maxis dirty industries will SimMars buildings, while I also change their lots to make them suitable in future cities. Your "dirty" industries zones will contain mining operations, ore crushers and purification systems, laboratories, underground warehouses, mini spaceports, molecular modification and recycling systems, quantum computers, nanochemical elements and anything else. There are still some Maxis refineries, but they'll not appear often. All the industrial lots will have modular look, so they'll fit together and make more advance industrial complexes. Obviously all those lot are grownable. They're still dirty factories, so they'll still pollute the environment. Build some SimMars made air and water purificators to remove the pollution.

    Let's close this month with some reloting project again, this time in rewards

    I hate the large parking of the deluxe police station, so I replace it into a vertipord for antigravity patrol vessels.

    I'm not very happy with the high school however, so I'll try to make it better. Any idea is welcomed :)

    I even replace the parking of the library with a mini vertiport for antigravity carriers. Books will replaced into the future by quantum memory chips, but they'll still exist as relics from the past.

    I also change the parking of the radio station to make it more realistic. Could however the radio station replaced into the future by the internet stations?

    The monetary economic system is doomed to collapse. The Venus Project is proposing a resource based economy, a holistic socio-economic system in which all goods and services are available for all, without the use of money, credits, barter or any other system of debt or servitude. All resources become the common heritage of all of the inhabitants, not just a select few. The premise upon which this system is based is that the Earth is abundant with plentiful resource, but our practice of rationing resources through monetary methods is irrelevant and counter productive to our survival.

    Stock exchanges will obsoleted in the future, but we can replace them with Global Resource Management Quantum Computers who could tracking the resources of Earth (or the Solar System) and the needs of the people. Maybe I should work even more on this idea. Anyway, here is the stock exchange with a mini spaceport.

    I like the ideas and lots you have. Very creative.

    For the university, you could replace the buildings with SimMars BATs. Just an idea. ;)

    The spaceports are not ready yet. They doesn't work as I really want but I can fix it. Not now, the seaport --> spaceport transition is in the bottom of the list ;)

    Still playing around with the Maxis lots, this time with manufacture and high technology factories.

    As you can see, many of the Maxis warehouses will replaced with the sophisticate SimMars industries. You'll not recognise the original lots anymore.

    I relot 2 of my favourite buildings, 6th and Brushy by Xyloxadoria and Ayad Hassan Bin Habshi by... can't remember the creator. I manage them to constructed only in corners, change the textures to fit better in my cities, add more trees and effects, replace the modern cars with future cars and turn the parking into an underground garage.

    I know why the school does not look good.You got a 20th century brick house next to a 22 century spacecraft.If you want to make it more futuristic,get rid of all the brick and timber buildings."It is so silly that they once made houses out of stone",people will say.Make the school at least4 stories tall and put a soccer field of tennis court on the roof.I think that the spacecraft on it is a bad idea.It is noisy and disturbes the students.There should be just one big spaceport complex,much like we have airports today.

    Well I'm not a B.A.T.er so I can't change the school. My aim is to fix the lots of the buildings, not the buildings themselves. Also some prehistoric brick buildings will still exist in the future, as landmarks this time. Something like Acropolis in Athens and the Empire State Building in New York. The engines of cars and helicopters becomes more and more quiet, so why not the spacecrafts as well? Who said that the future crafts will still use noisy engines that use liquid fuels? ;):D

    Time for an another useless update with new stupid stuff. I love the stairs like cities, because they can manage slopes with the best way. And they also look awesome. All you need is to flat the slopes and build some walls, something like this.

    Hmm... Simple walls are too ordinary. Inspired by the Blue Zones cities of Tiberium Wars...

    ... I tried to turn the slopes themselves into buildings! Just replace the wall with huge glasses and you'll have something like this.

    Let's be more clear. Use some terrain raising lots to build a hill. That's right, an ordinary hill.

    Now let's dress it with doors, glasses and rooftop. That's it, the ordinary hill turned into a big building!

    Of course you can build anything you want on the rooftop, from plazas and solar panels to spaceports and green parks.

    All I did was a simple editing of some of Mas71's walls. Obviously the textures are not what I really want, but still it's a start. I made 2 versions of them, a grey cyberpunk style and a green utopian one.

    Those buildings can be as big and tall as you want. You can also give them any size you want. If you make them big enough, you can build facilities, neighbourhoods and even whole cities on them!! Use them to build full 3D cities, both raised and underground.

    Way better textures now. All I did was to use some Simcity 3000 textures and add a nice white colour. What do you think?

    I found this tutorial to make my textures. I'm in Step 5 and I don't know how to make my own .dat file. A little help please?

    The good guys of SC4D and SimPeg helped me out. Now that I'm waiting to get my IID range, how about playing with those walls a bit more and turn islands into waterscrapers? :D

    Thanks to the advices of the good people of SC4D and SimPeg, it's now possible to dress a hill and turn it into building!

    Raise big enough hills and mountains and turn them into huge buildings and even arcologies! Make them large enough to support buildings, airports, neighbourhoods and even whole cities!! Dig canyons and turn them into underground cities! Raise islands and turn them into waterscrapers! Tons of possibilities :golly:
