For those of us who either grew up in the 90's or grew up on older 90's and early 2000's cartoons, this is some great news. Cartoon Network (not CN - ever) is finally bringing back their older cartoons from the 90's and early 2000's. Fans of these shows, like myself, have been waiting for this but never expected it would happen. (Kinda' like another big announcement we got this year *coughSC5cough*) The shows include Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter's Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and many more. The one I'm really looking forward to is Foster's. I loved that show when it was on, and I loved the animation. These shows will be played Friday nights at 8/7c during Cartoon Planet. Thank you, Cartoon Network! Now we have The 90's Are All That for old Nickelodeon cartoons and Cartoon Planet for old Cartoon Network cartoons. I think these are the smartest decisions these companies have made in a long time.

I was born in the 90s and never heard of any of those shows.....

Then again I was a fan of Home Improvement and George Lopez.

Who are the stars of those shows?

That sounds great, seems to be Cartoon Network are trying to remember its roots.

Hope so this will be apply in the Cartoon Network of Latin America too, because all these programs are transmitted in Tooncast.

@Duke: I think they do, but some people don't get Boomerang, like me. I'm also not sure if they show all the old shows.

@Larks: I love 90's sitcoms too. Home Improvemet is one of my favorite shows. I'm surprised you haven't heard of any of these shows, though. Not much into cartoons?

Look up the shows, I can't name all the characters. Some of the most popular shows out of the group are Courage the Cowardly Dog, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter's Lab.

@Alejandro: Yep. Cartoon Netwrok has made a smart move, IMO. Hope you can get to see some of the old shows.

Ah, nice memories when I were child. I think that was one of the very good things from my childhood.

The song of Dexter's Lab ending titles is really great (in the video, from 0.30):

Ahh... Drake and Josh. I love that show - mostly the older episodes wheh Josh was awkward and not as skinny as a twig. Spongebob - another classic. I have so many quotes memorized from that show: "The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma. *milk spills*"

Even if you didn't watch many cartoons, The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab are so well known that I figured even cartoon-haters would have heard of them. I never cared about The Powerpuff Girls, but I loved Dexter's Lab. You should really watch it.

I don't think they would be able to hold my interest, I prefer to watch PBS, Documentaries, political shows and shows with alot of action when it comes to TV.

I never really got into SpongeBob the way I got into some older Nickelodeon shows. It kinda fell on the tail end of my cartoon watching years. I was 11 when the show debuted. Similarly, Foster's Home was after my time and this Flapjack show... I'd never even heard of prior to reading about it here.

I remember a lot of the shows here... nice to see they're getting rebroadcasted. Boomerang just isn't enough (Here in Australia it's only available on the most expensive plans, the $90 a month range as a "Premium bonus", Nickelodeon is usually sold separately, last time I checked that channel alone was about $9 a month).

I remember Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was basically the last I saw, my parents got our Cable Television disconnected at the end of the third week of its run because it was just too expensive to keep. Though, here in Australia we have our own feed and I see some of the more kid-appropriate 90s shows (Dexter's Laboratory in particular) advertised pretty often when I'm over at my cousin's house. Haven't seen hide nor hair of Johnny Bravo; Courage the Cowardly Dog; Ed, Edd and Eddy; or Cow and Chicken.

Come to think of it back to when i was about 4, The shows I really watched were zaboomafu and Blues Clues, going back further were Sesame street and Barney the dinosaur, even back then i didn't really pay attention to cartoons, I do however remember the big red dog named Clifford.

Were those shows really that good? Or are they just capitalizing on early-onset nostalgia to recycle old reruns instead of spending the money to produce new shows?

Why even pay for cable if extended package channels don't even put their best programs on, and you soon have to pay for some premium package channel just to get decent shows? It's sad. When I was a kid I was excited when my family moved into a rent house and got the full 60-channel deal with nick, discovery, etc, and not just the local TV. Now even with that you don't get any good shows, you need HBO and Showtime for that...or Netflix.

I'd rather just have the internet. I know a lot of my friends all in their early 20's don't pay for TV either, they just get whatever free 15 channel basic cable comes with their apartment lease and wouldn't notice at all if went away completely. Their TV never gets switched from the Xbox Live home screen.

You guys have basic cable that comes with an apartment lease down there? o.O That's unheard of in New York. Sure, I have the coaxial cable coming into my apartment (I use it for internet), but if I wanted any TV service at all I'd need to call the cable company and pay extra for it. So, I just don't have TV, period. I own a (small by today's standards, 24") TV, but it's only good for watching movies and playing video games. I'm not paying $40 a month (and that's just what it starts at) for a TV service which I would basically never use. The only thing I mildly miss being able to watch is baseball. Other than that I really don't care.

I should clarify that it's "free" in the context of a discounted bundled deal for complex residents that couldn't be unbundled for cheaper. Nothing is truly free so I don't mind abusing the term. This was in a college town in a student-geared apartment complex, and it was a local provider, so unique circumstances.

I have seen most of those in the Cartoon Pop show, here in Latin America. The ones bolded are those I talk about. And I think that The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy still run in the normal schedule. There are some good advantages we have here.

Channel 2 to channel 12 should all be free and unencrypted digital, by law.

I never really liked flapjack, cow and chicken, 3 Eds, or chowder but I hate sponge bob.

Man, I am coming in late on this one.. anyhow,

It's good to see they are bringing back the good stuff; most of the new ones I see are a huge letdown. I have been noticing a pattern where most channels are reverting to their old methods (MTV reviving Beavis and Butthead and putting Liquid Television on the internet) and I wouldn't be surprised if other networks like Nickelodeon will be following this trend
