Quick-start

I just got the idea of making a quick-start option! What if you could choose to start a city in quick-start mode? I mean, nothing much, just starting off with a village. Like I said, nothing special, just something to get you started more quickly.

I can also imagine this being cool if you want to make an old-part-of-town thing. Just throwing that idea out. I don't know, any thoughts on this?

The problem with this global economy is if it is to be in any way realistic, I imagine it will base it's realism factor on equality enforcement. IRL of course cities come and go, civilisations rise and fall, and at any one time one takes a snapshot cross section of society, there is no starting point where everyone is equal. So the one thing which makes this game realistic is in fact a lack of realism to an extent, the fact we all begin equally from pretty much nothing.

If we could randomly magic up a village or small town, why not a NYC size metropolis? The issue I think with a global economy is that for fairness of competition and for any realistic balance in the economy we all have to start with the same options. If we all have the option to 'jump start' a small town then so be it, but it would have to be an available feature at day one.

I was thinking it be more of a single-player feature. Unless that is affected by the actual global community online, which in that case would suck mighty balls!

As far as we're aware, soloplay is affected by the Global Marketplace the same as multiplayer. Whether or not they change this for the sake of a more flexible solo mode, we can't tell.

So, you are proposing that they include something like a tutorial city or the scenario called Dullsville?

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

Why does every topic eventually have to lead to discussion of the online features and global economy, no matter what it is about? I'm sick of hearing about it.

Amen. But back to the original poster: Why bother. I can create a farm village in about five minutes in SimCity 4.
