Ok, so I'm new to Simtropolis. I'm completely clueless on pretty much how to do everything. I need to know the exact, step-by-step process to download/use ONLY the part of the NAM that allows for much better pathfinding. Also, I need the exact link to the site I download it from, and I need to know every single button I press the second I click the download button. Anyone's help would be massively appreciated, as I am totally helpless. Thank you.

If you're wanting just the traffic simulator part of the NAM, pick up the NAM Traffic Subsystem.

Open the .zip archive with the Windows file extractor just by double-clicking the file on the Download list from your web browser. From the readme:

Auto Installation: Since the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool (TSCT) serves as the user interface for the entire NAM Traffic Subsystem, installing the TSCT effectively installs the whole package. Simply double-click the file TSCT_Setup.exe to start the installation. The program will guide you through the process. You can change the default installation path if you wish.

Once you've installed the TSCT, open it up, and it'll allow you to come up with settings for the traffic simulator.

I really appreciate your help. However, I have 2 questions-

    1) Do I absolutely HAVE to download Java? The computer I am using is not necessarily mine and I am not to keen on crippling it via unintended viruses and/or too much space taken up by programs

    2) When I click "TSCT Setup," it says something about me having to extract files. Can someone define what this is and whether I should click the "Extract All" or "Run" option?

Yes, the TSCT requires Java. It is very common and should be safe. Otherwise, you'll just have to download and install NAM - with only the bare minimums if you don't want to install everything.

The TSCT files come in a zip folder that need to be "extracted" into regular files to run. If you click on the Setup file and it offers the option to "Run", just use that. It will run and install normally.
