Belgium reached international news with a sad event this week.

A bus with 58 children (aged 12), 6 adults (2 drivers,2 monitors and 2 teachers) left the ski resort where they had been on a ski trip with school.

Shortly after entering the tunnel at Sienne, Switserland, the bus veered off its course hit the side of the tunnel and hit the end wall of security niche (Which is kind of a extra lane in the tunnel where vehicles in distress or emergence vehicles can stop).

The bus was ripped open, the 6 adults and 22 children died.

Today its a day of national morning in our country.

Let's hold a minute silence for those who left happy for home but never got there.

What a terrible thing. This isn't the first incident like this I've heard of.

Front of the coach was completely ripped off, both drivers were killed. It would appear that the tunnel design wasn't very good to have projections that could be struck and cause this amount of damage. In Britain the extra lane for breakdowns (known as the Hard Shoulder) would have been continuous. One has to wonder what caused the coach to strike the side though. Sadly we may never know.

However we should remember that Coach Travel is the safest form of road travel.
