Super tall skyscrapers/CAM

Is is possible to get Super tall skyscrapers without CAM? And does CAM modify demand or populations?

I looking to just get nice looking super tall buildings. THX!

Yes, you can get supertall skyscrapers without CAM. Nearly all of the buildings on the STEX are non-CAM buildings, and there are quite a few tall buildings in there. You just need to take the time to look. CAM definitely makes it easier to grow huge skyscraper cities. But it is much harder to find CAMpatible buildings. Pretty much everything that is not in the LEX is inCAMpatible.

I use CAM. I have converted many buildings from the STEX to be CAMpatible for my personal use, but this can take a while and you have to know how to do it (it's not TOO hard though).

I think CAM is a pretty advanced mod... so if you're new to the game, it might be wise to not get CAM.

CAM does indeed modify demand and population. CAM changes the maximum demand from +6000 to +24,000 to allow for buildings with much higher capacities to grow. It also changes many of the Maxis buildings and gives them larger (or in some cases, smaller) and more realistic occupant sizes.

It's up to you whether you want it or not. Hope I helped!

All the CAM does (as far as I can tell) is add additional growth stages to the existing eight growth stages for residential and commercial zones. (Industrial has different growth stages, but only R and C can grow skyscrapers.) Well, add additional growth stages AND modify demand and growth patterns.

Most of the in-game skyscrapers aren't that tall, with the exception of the landmarks, so if you're looking for taller buildings, CAM or otherwise, you'll definitely need to download a few skyscraper packs. Some of the skyscrapers here don't require the CAM, but some may (but that's more common on SC4Devotion), so technically, you don't need the CAM, but you do need to start searching for taller growables.

THanks for the Replies! Both are very helpful! I've been downloading some new buildings to have a different look and more variety in my cities. But having hard time finding supertalls.. like the landmarks.. that grow. You say skyscraper packs? Do you have a link cuz I'm all for packs = Less time seaching. I found a couple residentail packs. I love the Growable packs.

I may stay away from CAM for now if I can get Huge structures without it. Plus I'd think that CAM would increase traffic which I still have not mastered to free up all the time, even with NAM.
