I just don't get it!

OK, I don't understand this. I want to be able to download mods and add-ons for this game but it doesn't bloody work. It says I need to register the game on EA's website but it takes me to a facebook page and it tells me the page is not found. I carried on anyway and I downloaded Lot Editor which goes into programfiles/simcity4 and it'sin there, but my concern is I have the deluxe edition and now I have two folders in Program files. One for the deluxe edition and 1 for just sim city 4. Anyway, I've done that and now I have downloaded BAT. This is weird because for some reason it now opens with clearfi and I can't do anything with this. I got a modern computer using Windows 7 and all I want to do is download the additional content and new buildings but it doesn't seem to work on a new computer. Am I doing something stupid?? Help, because I love this game and want to enjoy it as much as possible. Some CLEAR steps would be helpful please. Cheers

plugins Folder.(Unless directions with the file(s) say otherwise).

To download files from the SC4 Devotion Lot Exchange (LEX), you must first register here. Then after logging in, you are then able to access the download link.

Method 2 - Download the file from Simtropolis (recommended):

As you are now a member of Simtropolis, you are able to download a range of files from the Simtropolis Exchange (STEX), including the one you requested here:

One should be careful with newer members. The files, in fact, have to be unpacked, and the plugin portions of the download moved into the Plugins folder. Some new users are unaware that these .zip files are compressed for transmission and need further massaging.

Did you apply the two game updates listed in the Nightlights and Updates section of this article? First you must install the EP1 Update, followed by the SC4Update4BAT, for nightlights on custom buildings to show.
