Placement String Missing

G'day,

Not sure if anyone else out there has had the same issue as below and if anyone has previously posted this issue before.

I have the latest NAM and I have issues with some of the tiles showing "placement string missing".

This has happened on both my old and very outdated desktop and brand new desktop PC's. Old was Windows XP & the new one is Windows 7. My Simcity 4 Deluxe runs a zillion times better in the new desktop PC.

I have copied ALL data from the old desktop PC onto a USB drive and into the new PC after installing Simcity 4 Deluxe.

Is there any way if fixing this?

Would I have to uninstall and reinstall the latest NAM?

Is there another download which the NAM has developed to fix this issue?

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Daderic888.

Which pieces are doing this? It's quite possible you have an outdated NAM Controller in your files or (much less likely) are missing a Locale file. If it is happening with NWM starter pieces, it is definitely an outdated NAM Controller (due to the fact that the definitions for those pieces were nested in the NAM Controller well before the NWM was released, and had their IIDs changed, this is essentially a disguised "red arrow bug"). Hovering over the little NAM icon at the bottom of the Highways menu should tell you what controller build is in your Plugins (if the number after the "r" is anything other than "r132", it's definitely a controller file conflict).

Also make sure you are indeed running NAM Version 30. This issue of "Placement String Missing" could also pop up if you're using an old NAM version with a new NAM Essentials build (NAM Essentials is currently not needed).

    Thanks Tarkus,

This is only happening with the new Nam Version 30 pieces. Everything else, including the NWM, is fine.

That sounds more and more like an outdated controller. Completely clean out your plugins, do a fresh install of the NAM, and see if you're still getting that. If it is showing up, we can fix it pretty quick if we know exactly what pieces are affected. Otherwise, you've got a conflicting, outdated controller in your main plugins folder that's preventing the placement strings from appearing.

    Thanks Tarkus,

It's happening with 2 of the NWM puzzle pieces and some of the RHW puzzle pieces.

    Network Addon Mod is ok.

    Cheers,

    Hi Tarkus,

Yep, they're installed. Will uninstall and reinstall the NWM & RHW and see what happens.

    Cheers

    Hey Tarkus,

Have uninstalled and reinstalled the RHW & NWM.........I had previous versions in my plugins and installed Version 5 & Version 2.2 respectively. That's what was causing the placement strings issue. It's all good now :thumb:

    Thanks Tarkus.

    Cheers,
