I do not understand, where do you get no text? I am using the UK version of SC4, and have converted to RHD using the method posted earlier.

Mr. Tropod

I made an account just to thank you : ) Your post ( Jun-26-2004 12:39 AM) is almost 6 years old, but I still felt obligated to thank you for putting it up!!! Bought SC4 on Ebay recently, & I apparently got the Euro version. All the forums out there only mention how to go from US to euro but not the other way around.  I'm a very picky and meticulous person so little things like this drive me nuts!!!l(its a problem haha). So you just saved me from a big headache!!! Thanks again, God Bless.

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is well.

So I've got a slight issue here. I've got the UK version of SC4 and I've downloaded all the required and CORRECT patches (even though I'm in South Africa), including the latest NAM. OK so everything's sweet, I know there's going to be an issue with left-hand/right-hand driving but no problem, I'll figure it out later.

But now it's bugging me. At the moment, all the cars are driving on the LEFT side of the road. The arrows introduced in the NAM are also on the left side of the road. This is all fine with me. However, the traffic lights are on the RIGHT side of the road. I've tried using the suggested regedit method but I've haven't got any result thus far.

So what can I do? I remember getting the cars to drive on the right side of the road a few years back but that was before my computer crashed. If possible, I'd like the traffic lights to be on the left side of the road where all the cars and arrows and flotsam and jetsam are.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a million all.

For those who get "NOT_IN_TEXT_DATABASE" check the folder where SimCityLocale.dat is located in !!!

It should be English and not Englsh .. click rename, add an "i" and the text will work !

Hi, I have this issue now.

I have just downloaded an electronic version of SC4 with all the pacs etc from Origin, installed NAM and made sure it was set to the correct side (left).  Which all works, it makes sure the arrows etc are the correct side of the road but the traffic still drives on the wrong side.

I did used to have SC4 on disc on an XP desktop, so i know that changing the registry worked when it was from a disc and with XP

HOWEVER my laptop is on Windows 8, when I open up regedit there doesn't seem to be a registry entry for Maxis or even Origin, so i can't find the language registry to change.

Any ideas?

help very appreciated, thanks.

For digital versions, here is a better way than editing the registry:

Find the install directory, where you should have a subfolder "English". Make a copy of this folder, rename it "UKEnglsh", note that's not a typo.

Then find your SC4 Shortcut, right click, select properties and add the following to the end of the target line "-l:"UK English". Now for the problem part, I have no idea how with the Origin version you are able to adjust this shortcut.

The NAM can't change the driving side, but it must correspond with the setting used for the game or you'll experience problems.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
