Okay guys so I just finished up my first little bat project and I wanted to know how you felt about it before uploading it to avoid 1* ratings and general awkwardness. It's not anything really amazing, just a simple little shrine on a simple little lot! I wanted to make this almost as a series, like the shrine would be lvl 1 and then there'd be a small temple and then a bigger temple ect.

Very nice start! Starting small is definitely the way to go. Too many new BATters choose large projects that are beyond their ability (myself included) and become quickly discouraged by how difficult modeling really is. I like what you have here - it's nicely modeled and very practical. The only thing I might change would be to perhaps darken the texture of the pillars and arches. Buildings modeled in gmax often look quite a bit brighter ingame than they do in the gmax preview renders. As a result, your arches and pillars look a little bit too white. And maybe you could adjust the color of the yellow spire on the roof.

Other than a few texture adjustments, this looks quite nice :D

Thanks! :) Well I actually tried to build something at least a 100 times bigger but after taking like an hour to do half an arch I just decided to make this little thing instead :P

Congratulations on your first BAT. :)

My best guess for the STEX is that it would do ok ratings-wise, but probably wouldn't get very many downloads, because it's small and might be a niche kind of thing. But if you plan on doing a series, you should do them all first, and then upload them together as a pack. Just a tiny 1x1 shrine might not be substantial enough to warrant an upload, and since you're doing more than one it would make sense to bundle them. This is the case for most small things. Sometimes even buildings are small and related enough that it makes more sense to bundle them, rather than upload them separately, for example, nofunk's Hamilton Avenue Shops, or many of MadHatter's uploads.

Very nice... from your upload I understand you are planing to make Gothic buildings. Mind you these are to my point of view the hardest to model, but the most rewarding in terms of final aesthetics. Good luck! :thumb:
