I've read the previous threads regarding the issues with using Lion and SC4 RH.....I haven't gotten any feedback on my question and hope this thread can help. So i downloaded the required patch, but it's still not working I get the same error message (powerPC). where do i install the patch? I opened it up onto my hard drive but still no go. can somebody please help me out

There should be an installer in the file that you download that you need to run after you get the patch. Make sure, once you open the download and the icon pops up on the desktop, that you then go into that and start the installer inside it. It should take you through a few steps and it will install it itself.

If you have anymore questions, or this still doesn't work, feel free to ask again or clarify what steps you take when trying to install the patch, and the link to the patch too.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've run the patch and gone through the installàtion process/steps. It ends by saying downloaded successfully. But then when I run the SC game it gives me the same error message. Am I forgetting something?

Can you post a link to the patch that you are using? Maybe it might be the wrong one.

Also, if you could right click the SC4 app in your applications folder and tell me what "version" it says it is.

lol i opened up SC4 from the application folder instead of from the desktop icon and it worked lol thanks again for your support

oh oh now it says the data folder can not be located and won't open....

so i got the game to kinda work, i can't open it from the desktop icon but have to go on to the HD, i have an apple magic track mouse pad and a microsoft wireless keyboard. before the upgrade both worked fine, now it works for abut 3 minutes then i can't use the keyboard arrows to navigate the screen. the mouse arrow moves but only in that screen and not around my city. i can't click on anything at all. both mouse and keyboard work well when I'm not using the game. any ideas?

I have not had these problems before. So sorry, but I have no ideas.

There are a few options in the settings menu for making the map move when your mouse touches the edge of the screen, make sure they have been ticked. Other than that, sorry I haven't experienced these problems before.

If you are able to you may want to try a different key board or mouse, to see if they work instead.

i tried using my microsoft wireless mouse that has always worked in the past, and the apple track pad. both have worked up until i installed lion. it works for a few seconds then it just stops. i can't navigate the screen using the keyboard or mouse. i can move the mouse around only on the screen which it froze on but not past that screen. hope someone can help

im also unable to leave the game. i have to restart my mac......uggggh don't know what to do. can't play now at all is there a way to uninstall lion?

I have been doing some experiments, and have found that it is possible to install Snow Leopard into a Virtual Machine using Oracle's Virtual Box. As a result, it should be possible to run the PPC version of SimCity 4 on Lion Installs. If you setup the Virtual Machine to use multiple cores, it really shouldn't much different than playing it natively, at least once you get it installed.
