  1. 1. What traffic simulator do you use?

  2. 2. Do you use any special options, when available?

  3. 3. How often or rarely do you use ploppable items to manipulate traffic?

I'd like to see how simtropolitans change their traffic simulation in-game. Note that managing traffic is about half of the game's tasks, so defining how traffic works is pretty much saying how the game will run. I'd like to know why did you choose your option(s) as well, or why haven't you changed anything.

For my traffic simulation, I use:

- NAM: Ultra capacity (I like its capacity numbers, as they match daily usage of networks--or at least when comparing them with road usage levels of Puerto Rico and the traditional rapid transit line usage level models)

- Greater mass transit usage (especially by means of the "fastest travel option")

- Increased traffic noise (otherwise the business is too slow to appear)

- Same traffic pollution

I'm considering making networks more expensive, as in my current difficulty level money is easy to go by (although I use the easy diff. to have a big budget to start cities and to have a faster RCI demand progress). I might have to lower the fares as well (cities make a profit with great ease). One problem I have is how my freeways still remain with low use, save for some commuter loops. Mass transit gets its reasonable share of use, fortunately. I also use, on occasion, the bus blocking lots--I may have to in order to reduce the chance of commuter loops from happening, as buses tend to be the ones cluttering my neighbor connections. I'm also considering getting some car blockers in order to create pedestrian districts.

I use ultra only for the effect on CJ pictures. If I need to create a car crash, then I use traffic generators. I find the traffic patterns on SC4 very unrealistic. Especially near industrial areas.

I use ultra to keep my larger cities feasible without sending the commute time skyrocketing, I also increased the usage of mass transit. As for traffic generators I have only used them once, and that was to give the illusion that the other side of a bay, with a bridge was developed. Once it is developed I will remove the generators.
