Residential with no work zot

So when i play simcity 4, i had this problem: Most of high-wealth residential had a no work zot.

I didn't know why this is happened, since my commercial population is much larger than the residential one. I'd look to other forum or discussion about this topic, but for me it doesn't seem work.

Anyone know how this problem occurred, and how to solve it? I couldn't stand looking my high-wealth residential tall building being abandoned because of the work commute :(

Ya Sim City s odd that way- Add transportation to industrial zones- For some reason Sims perfer to work in industrial zones and not commerce, add transportation to your commerce as well. It could be that you are zoned to far out of the way for them- Hope this helps

You probably don't have enough jobs for these Sims. How is your ratios of population? No more than 15% R$$$ or you are in trouble and need to create more jobs or tax the R$$$ to reduce their numbers. Try setting your R$$$ taxes between 12 and 15 percent.

Are you aware that in most commercial and industrial jobs, no matter what wealth level, not even half the listed jobs go to high wealth sims? Indeed, High Tech industry for example only 15% of the jobs they provide are for your high wealth sims (actually, due to a bug none of those jobs go to high wealth sims, but there are a couple of fixes on the STEX, sadly can't remember what they are named though)! Indeed, Even CO$$$ building only provide about 30% of listed jobs for high wealth sims, and for CS$$$ it isn't even 10% if I recall correctly. Nonny Moose gave you the only solution which is to decrease the amount of high wealth sims in your city to a more manageable level.

And not just that! The game has known bugs with R$$$. Like 'His Divine Hand' and 'A Nonny Moose' said, only ~15% of all jobs offered are for R$$$ yet, game forces built of high wealth residential, resulting in massive 'no jobs' situation for them and a dilapidation of entire urban neighborhoods.

I actually know two mods - one crucial - it fixes the bug that actually stopped IHT from offering jobs to R$$$. Here is that mod:

IHT Census

Other mod increases criteria for building R$$$ so they wont build as much as they do:

Less abandonment

It should solve the high wealth Sims problem. Good luck!

I have a problem with abandoning issues...I have it where buildings abandon and when I click on where they are traveling, some are just going across the street. When my city gets big, I get the no road access to new residential zones...Is this due to my video card? It' like my city becomes maxed out with size(mostly happens on the big map squares)....

In large cities you run out of CPU cycles exponentially because of the uniprocessing necessitated by the architecture of the program. This gives rise to actually seeing the multiple passes of the pathfinder. The no road zots mean that the system is seeking a go-to-work path for the lots/buildings but has not yet found one. They should just go away eventually.

Commute time is the default excuse when the program can't find any other reason for abandonment. If may be a false reading due to some other blocking item, usually a suitable job for the class of Sims. If you want to slow down the growth of R$$$ raise their taxes a little. You should not have more than about 15% R$$$ total in any given city, even if it is all CO$$$. The maximum employment for R$$$ in these buildings is around 30%. Remember, any business needs lieutenants (R$$) and privates (R$). Somebody has to look after contract details, accounts, and push the mail cart around.
