ok. im new here, and i just installed simcity 4 on my brand new windows 7 X64 laptop. it runs fine, but i never get any crime, ever. same with fires. i never get them. i dont like dealing with them, but it takes the excitement out of the game. i mean, some people dont like that, but its not realistic. i had a city with over 200,000 people, and had no disasters of any kind. is a mod causing this?:???:

BTW, i never build fire stations either.

Are you playing on easy? That should stop crime & fire.

If you want challenge and fewer in-your-face advisors, run on hard. You'll get fires etc. and you don't have much money and can go broke and wind up in the Senate.

Actually, I get fires and crimes in cities that I've run on easy. I'm sure there are a lot less than what you'd get on hard (I only play my cities on easy or medium), but normally you should encounter some fires and find crimes on the crime map. The only explanation I have for you not getting fires is maybe your city doesn't have much industry, abandoned buildings, or other structures with a high fire hazard. But even still, they should happen occasionally, even if infrequent.

Likewise, I often get fires on Easy (sometimes to the point of screaming), yet at other times, none. Probably depends on what does or does not grow. I haven't looked for a correlation, but does providing water decrease the likelihood...?

Water is part of fire prevention, but you also need at least one fire hall. If the coverage is not sufficient, you should get fires outside the protected zone.

i don't know, sometimes when a fire breaks out in Snowpoint city ( one of my of user made cities) the hydrogen power plant in that city also catches on fire... any one got any solutions on that.

Wait a minute, are you saying that whenever a fire happens in some different part of your city, the power plant also catches fire? If it just catches because it always happens to be next to the building that catches on fire, then that's understandable but I don't have anything that could explain why it would catch fire in concurrence with a fire in a totally separate part of your city.
