    Miborovsky: Thank you, friend. I think I may get 2 million. I am experiencing this population for the first time. It is all new to me. Glad to see you are having success as well!

    Compromise: Yes, it does get tedious. It takes a cetain kind of appreciation for the patience, put into this design. I believe my cities are art. Symmetric art, created out of a passion for art itself.

    As this city grows, watch where the grid goes. Even I am not sure. I am in new territory, but have a theory upcoming soon.

    Glad you keep coming back for visits, Compromise. I really do appreciate your faithful posts.

    TaskForce4: Glad it is working for you! Grids will help you understand the game mechanics better. It will help you greatly later too, when you want to solve a scenario city or make a more realistic city.

    Scenario Cities; wonder why no one does those?42.gif small ones would be about 40mb though.

    Also glad the Config worked. That pattern allows for infinite possibilities, In a waffle, sort of way.

    Welcome back to the experiment too.

    Chapter 13: Collision Spotting; A Popular Hobby

    Yes that is the new trend in G.G. I saw my first season of traffic issues. Auto crashes for one and the news ticker FINALLY said streets becoming endangered,...!
    Okay Sitizens, things were moving quite well. I still had no warnings of endangered streets or pollution. Commute times were slowly dropping.

    Why did I build those Parking Garages?

    Look at the graphs and charts. I have found a strange element in the game,.....or have I?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oddly3c.jpg align=baseline>

     The sitizens began to use the P. garages, but they stopped using the Subway equally as much. Still without the commuter shuttle service implemented in City Ordinances.
     At 753,000 Sitizens I gave in and attempted the commuter shuttle serv. Suddenly, the trend began to reverse! The sitizens started to use the subway a bit more! Not sure if it will stick though. If this continues badly; I will demolish the parking garages, as they are causing negative traffic. Strange?!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oddly4d.jpg align=baseline>

     Profit, on the horizon soon.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oddly5e.jpg align=baseline>

    I even put the PG's, near subway stations only, as shown below.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oddly6f.jpg align=baseline>

    How about a nice fly-over, of the Green Griddle, City Zoo?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oddly7g.jpg align=baseline>

    Okay that was really boring, but Gov. Gride, must show off his pride, so it seems.

    Now the Region view.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//oddly8h.jpg align=baseline>

    782,449 Simizens and climbing steadily! Bretling Bend has 1100 simizens. This small town is opressed. Gov, gride squeezes them like grapes and prevents there education or quality of life.

    Must be wondering if Multifarius has grown?,.....hmmmm

    Hey good buddy,

    Great job showing people to great life of grids.   Mainy of the first cities in Phat are Grided  and currently Phat has 6.8 million  so you should not have any problem getting atleast 6 million I would guess.   It's good to see your almost to 800 K.   Keep up the good work I will be watching how Waffle World does.   after all Lego  my eggo.      lol

    God loves you

    Kwakelaar: I placed the PG's then unpaused. Almost instantly, the red dots appeared at intersections only. Then began slight orange lines between, as the subway use decreased. Still haven't looked back at this yet, but I surely will. Strange isn't it?

    Phathead: There is no doubt in my mind now, bud: You are the eternal master of grids! I was blown away by your CJ! I however, have some major twists in this experiment coming soon. A small one is below. A really big Thanks friend, for making a stop-over here in WW!

    Voar Tok: Yes, it is the solution to the Maxis puzzle, but there is much more to this experiment than just the grid. Grid Secrets the CJ, is about to unveil a few twists, in the near future. Thanks for the kind comments! and be sure to check back soon, Voar Tok.

    Chapter 14: Molecular Transportation

    This is a small update fellow Sitizens.

    Here we see a meeting of the minds, so to speak. As our two Governors have reached an agreement.

    Gov. Multifidus had to admitt the truth. That arrogant Gride fellow, was right. Establancia was a dying planet and although arrogant and mouthy; his plan was Multifarius' only hope of survival.

    Grides plan went into action.

    A huge Molecular Transporter Ring, was built around a black hole in the Alpha quadrant, by Governor Multifidus. In kind, one was also built by Governor Gride, in the Sentar Riias zone, around a white hole.
    These MTR's were designed to break down the molecules, of an entire city and transport them through the worm hole, within an artificial bubble enviroment. Then reconstitute the city or cities, in exact order, according to pre-transported data.

    Now we have this interesting and astounding development! Can this be!? Two Governors sharing one world!?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//WaffleW5096.jpg align=baseline>
     Two great cities have become one small nation!
     Now it is Waffle World Prime at 1,169,828 Simizens!

    Congrats on the 1 million. About the Parking garage: I guess this may be because they work as converters car -> MT as well as MT -> car - at least I did watched it recently in my CJ region with Arcedelia's great parking lots (they are mainliy a modded garage) but also with the garages themselves ...

    Maybe you shouhd check this ?

    It seems logical that the PG's would become choke points at rush hour and then back to normal for non-peak travel.

    Kwakelaar: It is very real, friend. I simply imported the numerical grid cities from one region, into my next simultaniously growing region. building blocks that match up identically, so to speak.

    It did cause one terrible disaster! Look below.

    Soltakr: Printing press foreman, over a crew of 4 men. We print the newspapers for three cities right now. Also sell graphic art, when I am lucky enough. Writing too; have a few published works in newspaper, the internet and a magazine.

    Welcome to my experiments and thanks for giving me a chance to talk about myself. hahaa.

     I am curious now, what do you do for a living, Soltakr?

    Nardo69: yes that is correct. I never thought of the PG's in that perspective. Guess I should have. I still haven't got back to that too much, as there has been a great disaster below! Welcome back to this on-going experiment.

    Racing12: Thanks for the Gratz, Racer! Welcome to the wonderful world of Waffles! Sit down and take a bite of my experimental creations?

    Sproxxx: Thank you big time and you made the 100th post to my CJ! Woot39.gif!

    Chapter 15: The Disaster That Un-Materialized!

    All was thought to have gone to plan, but no! Things couldn't have went more wrong!

    Multifurius the city was fine, so were all its districts and buildings, but something horrible happened to all the people in cars or on the streets. It was supposed to be a celabration of sucess, instead it was failure of nothingness.

    Look at what occurred, when the transporter re-energized the city!

    chapmult3.jpg

    112,000 of Multifarius' sitizens were gone?! along with the roads they were driving or walking on!

    Horrific as it was, it took awhile to actually sink in to everyones minds. They were not only lost, their molecules were floating in space or worse, they were here, floating in the very air we are breathing!

    The great cities all mourned this huge loss.8.gif15.gif8.gif

    It was soon discovered, they had a glitch in the data being transferred, concerning multifarius' Mass Transit system, or what Gov. Multifudus had called the NAM. Gov. Gride new nothing of this NAM thing and apparently neither did the rest of Waffle World.

    rebuilding must ensue. I will have to click and wait about 10 seconds, click and wait about 10 sec., cli.....lets see 32 intersections times 32 intersections in just the major city is.....well 1000's of clicks by the time I correct this, with all 10 cities. 46.gif

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//chapmult2.jpg align=baseline>

    Important readme:
    Meanwhile, I had to keep the other cities growing and I found a little secret out, about importing cities. In order to make your cities recognize other cities and their connections; you have to conform the city edges all over again. even if the popup say there is no need to do it. click accept anyways, or the city will stop growing. I had to do it in all 10 or so cities, that I imported. Which also meant some avenues and edges got destroyed. Only where waters edge didn't quite line up, but not many or too badly.

    A new industrial district was named in dedication of all the lost souls. Tributary of Living Waters was born.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//chapwaff1.jpg align=baseline>

    1,262,585 Simizens! Updates on this coming soon....

    I got some of the buildings that you have gotten around 180k in a city that I was working on.  I will inform everyone though that you have to give the sims their every wish if you want to get them that early on.  Scads of luck is going to be necessary, though.

    huh, a grid really works. Nicely done, I could never do it though because I could get it so symmetrical. I wouldn't have the patience, I'm more of a random and naturalistic style city builder. Great tutorial though, it gives me an insight into a different type of building.

    What's there to remember? Isn't it common knowlege that computers are set up in fours and eights, (4s & 8s & 16s & 32s)???
    I learned that back in 1988.
    My first 'PC' had 8 kb of ram. I 'pumped' it up to 16 and it was a screemer, then. Now we're talkin' GIGS.

    Love this CJ. Very interesting.

    Voar Tok: Hello again friend. All is well in Waffle World. Everything is going according to plans.
    The only way to make this work and get those high rises is to, generate massive amounts of income first, or cheat with a money MOD, like I did. I can do this without cheating though.

    Yaptszwai: Welcome to WW! Thanks for peeking in and leaving a comment and I am glad you have gotten some insight on gridding.

    BarbulaM1: Grids are difficult to escape, when you have my type personality envolved. Thank you bigtime for dropping in, BarbulaM1! It is an honor, to have you comment in my experiment.

    TaskForce4: well, I know it has been a week now, but straight coastlines just take a bit of patience and god mode tools. When using the tools watch the pulsating green circle; the smallest inner one, isolates the land that will be modified. Like coloring in the lines; never let that inner green circle touch a piece of tile, you do NOT wish to terraform. Practice dragging your mouse evenly for awhile, or use a graphic pen instead of the mouse and make it much much easier. Like drawing!

    Compromise: I hate to say it, but Grindre said it best: this entire experiment is based on computer specs, as are many simulation games. Glad to see you back, Compromise!

    ChocolateMax: For some strange reason your Alias is very appealing to me?! Sure, I love chocolate, but for some reason, your name makes me feel special, in a way. hehee.

    Yep, grids work and still working well so far. Thanks for stopping back for a visit in Waffle World.

    Timotheus: You said it , friend! patience, practice and sweat beads of tedium. hehee.

    The Grindre: Yes, this entire experiment is based on that formula.
     You cannot escape it, so it is always the solution. Grids solved Ceaser game also. Grids solved all the scenarios in RollerCoaster Tycoon as well. Actually, I play so many simulations, it is dizzying. I have solved all of them with a grid formula, based on similar numbers or patterns. It kind of, takes the fun out of it, doesn't it?30.gif
    Unless you have a symmetric personality; then it becomes a soothing experience, to create order from all things.
    Thanks for popping in to comment, Grindre!

    Chapter 16: Comparison Time

    I decided to get back on track and not take this into a story line. It is an experiment after all.

    After importing Multifarius from Establancia region, into Waffle World region; I had to deal with the absence of the once existing NAM, in one city and it's non-existence, in the other city.

    I had to go through and re-build every avenue intersection in 5 cities, imported. Tedious, to say the least and very time consuming. I found that the zone view made it easiest to fix things.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//namjam1122.jpg align=baseline>

    finally I get it all done and begin to grow WW again!

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//mltfs136brn.jpg align=baseline>

    523,544 Simizens in Multifarius! They don't even miss their NAM now.

    These two cities, although grown in seperate regions at first; were simultaniously growing. One city(Multifarius) had errors in the grid design. The second City(Green Griddle) was the correction city, where I modified my plans and growth, to correct the problems in Multifarius.

    Yet, both cities still are a success by growability standards.

    Here is a quick comparison of the two major metropolis'.

    Multifarius

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//piese4re.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//piese6ye.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//piese7ue.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//piese8ie.jpg align=baseline>

    Notice my education has dropped off drastically? I have no Opera house yet and the Multifarians are bit miffed by this. The madder they get, the dumber they grow.

    The pattern in Multifarius is not as pretty as Green Griddles' either.

    Now for Green Griddle

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//grngrd17ye.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//grngrd16te.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//grngrd15re.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//grngrd13we.jpg align=baseline>

    Notice that Green Griddle has less problems with commute times, as well as, health and every other aspect of life in this metropolis.

    Green Griddle has:

    36 total residential neighborhoods.

    Eventually will have, 27 hospitals and no clinics.

    9 large High schools.

    72 Subway stations. May need more, but I allowed for this.

    Now lets see where the population has gotten to in Green Griddle. Also a region view might be nice?

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//grngrd18ue.jpg align=baseline>

    921,000 Simizens!! 30 years! I was hoping to hit 1 million by year 30, but alas, I didn't quite get there.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//wworld920.jpg align=baseline>

    Yes! I am cramming in the Sitizens! 1,445,577 of them! yippie!

    WOW!6.gif Getting Big. I'm enjoying following this CJ very much. I was looking at the grids and saw the different placement of commercial zones for each city. Do you think that this is the reason that one is doing better than the other? If not what is the reason?42.gif

    One game that comes to mind that can be solved with grids is Civilization (any of them). It's just a hex grid rather than a square grid. Still, if you do it right, the pieces fit perfectly together and maximize the use of resources.

    Anyway, before I get too far off topic, I wanted to say that I continue to be intrigued by this experiment.44.gif

    P.S. Sproxxx, I love your sig.

    Kwakelaar: Sorry, I forgot you on my last post. I feel so bad now...My NAM Jam is done for. Although I have no real complaints with the NAM, I just hate the slowdown it causes for me, so I will go without it for a bit. Thank you for dropping in so faithfully, Kwake.

    Soltakr: I forgot you as well? I must have been in too much of a hurry30.gif I am sorry. And to think you are playing with one Of my favorite toys; Corvettes! Don't tell the most avid Vette fans, but I am glad to see the pop-up headlight gone. The 2005 Vette has topped my list of, must have toys!...Okay, it may be a used 2005, by the time I get one. hehee.

     I have driven chevy's exclusively, my entire driving life. My first Car was a '72' Impala 4dr, with a 402 big block/Holly quadra-jet and Double pumper. I looked like a geek, but took off like a freak!

    Sproxxx: That is a part of it. But other aspects must follow a most efficient pattern as well. You may notice that Subways also follow, directly in line with the commercial squares. Not too many Sims are using the subway however, as it does not connect to a neighboring Industrial city. That is important I think, as it seems to allow me to grow commercial better than any other grid formula I have tried. I also moved comm closer and closer to the residents, until I found the best distance. Not sure what others have discovered, but my commercial squares, are 24x24 residential tiles apart.

    Jacqulina: Howdy young lady! glad you popped back in to comment!

    TChaos713: Yes! I love Civ.! I cannot resist toggling on cheat mode in Civ2. I love nuking the primitives. mwahhahaa. Still haven't had a chance to get Civ3 yet and I am impatiently awaiting a Ceasar4 as well.

    Anyways, welcome back to latest belated updates, Tchaos!

    Chapter 16: A Small Addendum

    One city was not imported and a new industrial district had to be created, to balance employment. I used the southern shore of Irkland for this.

    The 1x1 park below has my newest tileable Base texture set applied.
     I realized it was much easier, to get the textures into the LE, without using the reader, etc. They are faked textures, basically. and I can tile them dozens of ways.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//gredwe4er.jpg align=baseline>

    4 different pieces to make a 1x1 park.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//gredweed8b.jpg align=baseline> This is just one of the puzzle pieces. There are several more made and more styles coming. I can make any base texture this way, which allows me to connect them various ways in the LE or in the BAT.

    More coming and if you wish to dl this texture set; visit Frndos' BAT Cave, in the BAT open discussion forum.

    To be continued......

    Thank You for the Continued Support!

    Simtropolis depends on donations to fund site maintenance costs.
    Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

    But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

    STEX Collections

    By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

    Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

    Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
