SC4 region import steam

Hi,

I;m getting some problems to import new regions in the steam deluxe version of Simcity 4. I download the greyscales and the configs. But every time I import the region by ctrl+shift+r it says the config is not correct size. I found @ google some manuals to check the configs but all of these are correct. How can I fix this?

When you open the new region in the game, do you get the layout of the config.bmp file or the default layout?

I load the .jpg file. I tried the config too. Than I get the error. The region is added in the normal load function. when I load this one it loads just tiles with land in various sizes.

Make sure you have the config.bmp file in the region folder before trying to render the map.

The correct size, and ratio of the the grayscale.jpg to the config.bmp file is 64:1, plus one pixel.

If you create the region with the game it uses the default config.bmp, which is 16x16 pixels.

I tried the whole top 10 of most popular regions/maps. for example:

Post the error mesage, or describe the what you are doing in detail.

I download the mentioned regions and place them at the correct place, like I said before. Next I start Simcity4 via Steam, than I hit ctrl+alt+r and load the .jpg.

I checked the config files in photoshop but they are correct.

The grayscale.jpg is not the right size for the config.bmp. The ratio of the grayscale to the config is 64:1, plus 1 pixel on each side of the grayscale. My guess is you need to resize the config.bmp.

It sounds like the program isn't finding/reading the config file. Are you, by chance using Vista? I don't use the Steam version, but perhaps you need to be on an Administrator's account.

I'm using windows 7. Tried to start the game with administrator rights but it doesn't matter. A friend of my plays the game also at steam. He downloaded the exactly same regions and config, and for him it is working.

According to the error mesage you posted, they aren't.

Try opening the grayscale in a photo editing program and converting it to a 8 bit grayscale, then save it as a jpg.
