Kinda surprised to hear this one. The insurance agents and safety analysts that are responsible for keeping the experiments controlled generally are very safety cautious.

From what I gather it was so much a case of the classic miss fire, it fired right it was just to powerful; from what the people on the radio said today, it went through the water barrels and bounced off a bank that was there to catch the ball afterwards... and the rest is history.

Can't wait till the episode comes on the air... a little amazed it wasn't their first accident.

When I heard about this on the radio, I was thinking about the native American tribe in (was in) Alaska that was tied together and shot through there stomachs with cannons... wow... it went off a firing range, through 2 houses and through one side of a van... just amazing.

Ordinance is nothing to play with, even in "safe" conditions. They were on a specified range, and still people live too close to such things.

I too find it interesting that they were testing it on a bomb range... and well... not a cannon range. (although as far as i'm aware they were testing the gun itself to determine its muzzle velocity, not an actual part of the myth itself, and as such may have only wanted to fire it once). Its probably worth noting that the bomb disposal range staff would have been in charge, not Adam and Jamie, and would have had the final say (along with the insurance company) over the test. They thought the precautions taken were adequate.

I can see the bomb range being in the same, if not more, trouble than Mythbusters since it was on their property and they should've checked the safety precautions before giving it the okay. Surprised they didn't use the runway that they always do, it's more open there and there aren't houses around.

They should have also calculated all possible trajectories beforehand. You never know what ordinance will do once it has been fired; even if they were on a test range, they should check for all risks then because once a bullet is fired upward, it has to come down eventually.

I doubt it.The only footage would be from the camera crews filming it.if that footage got out it could only have come from in house,and that would cost them their jobs.no spectators with cameras would have been allowed on the bomb range either.
