Download issue

OK, I'm admittedly new. I downloaded Nighthawks Stadium. No dependencies and it says it should appear in Landmarks. I see the download file files but it does not show up in the game under Landmarks.

I the exact same issue with RMIP 2 Small Airport Edition Vol 2 1.0. It appears in the Downloads file but not in the game.

Do I have to move the files somewhere?

Have you extracted the game files from the zip file you downloaded, and placed them in the documents plugins folder?

I tried the Nighthawks Stadium and found it in the Landmarks menu between the Guggenheim Museum and the Taj Mahal (this is with only Maxis landmarks installed), about halfway through the menu. First question would be did you unzip the files and place them in the My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder? There should be three files from the download that you need - the Desc, Lot, and Model files. Also, have you tried other downloads that did work?

You should also be aware that the Documents/SimCity 4 .../Downloads folder is not intended for external downloads, but for transferring cities between regions. External downloads from sites should be kept in a private downloads folder away from the game.

I had to move it to My Doc/Simcity4/Plugins.

Two questions:

1. Should I assume that everything I download should go into this folder?

2. I downloaded BSC Mods and instead it made another folder under MyDoc/Simcity4/Lexdownloads. Should I move this to the Plugins folder??

The game will recognize only items in the two plugins folders. Did you check to see if the extra folder has anything other than documentation and/or whether they also got placed in your plugins folder.

Plugins need to be set up so that you can unplug them easily. I keep my plugins folder by categories. Here is the top level list of my plugins folder.

Yes.

Most of the time, this folder will contain images and documentation for the downloaded items and does not need to be in the Plugins folder. However, there are some downloads that offer optional files which could be in the external folder. These are files that could be used if desired and could be placed in the Plugins, replacing something else. It is always imperative to read any instructions for downloaded items so that files are correctly installed.
