You can check if it is plugin trouble by removing all your plugins. Simply rename your plugin folder to something else, say plugin.sav and the game will make a new, empty one. Then open your game and see.

If this is not the case, I think we need to know what you expect to see under the water? Did you try to look at this with water mode (I-key)?

    Ok thanx!

So i remove all the plugins and the beachside look very well (like i want it to look, like the Pic -A- below)

then i return all the plugins again and the shore look get worse again (like the pic -B- below)

No doubt this is a plugin trouble, so how i can know exactly what is the plugin problem??

Please... how i can resolve this?

unless you know what sort of plugin might be causing the issue, you will probably have to go through your plugins piece by piece.

You can take out half of your plugins, start the game and see if the issue is there. If the problem is gone, you know the file is in the half that you took out.

Continue going through this process halving it each time until you find the file causing the problem.

    Good luck ;)

Yes! but contrariwise, if the problem shows up in the first half, swap halves then continue looking as before.

Relax, this is a binary search and will end at or before ciel(log2(number of plugins)).So if you have less than 1024 plugins, you need only make a maximum of 9 tries.

I know the exact cause of the issue:

It's an issue not with the water mod (and it doesn't matter which water mod you have; it will continually persist), but the terrain mod itself. In the default terrain parameters, there's a value for water transparency that's set to 0 (The WaterMinAlpha value), but in certain terrain mods such as the Columbus Terrain Mod, that value is increased significantly to 9A, which is Hexadecimal for 154.

Enabling a transparent coastline requires knowledge of using something called the Reader. You would need to open up whatever terrain mod DAT you have and find the actual terrain exemplar (Look for the numbers 6534284a, 88cd66e9, and 00000001 for the type, group, and instance IDs). Find the WaterMinAlpha value and set that to 0 or whatever number you see fit. Be sure it's in hexadecimal; You can't just type in, say, 40 because that comes out as 64. Save, exit, and restart the game.

    -----

How do I know this? I had the same exact problem.

    Hi guys!

Yes, i could find the problem is in that plugin, i have the "Olympic Terrain Mod" and i could not get the water transparency.

@Ganaram DI, i open a .dat file with a text editor, so i can see too many lines, i found the "WaterMinAlpha value" i put 0 value but i can't understand all the other... u could be more explanatory?

If you can find the actual WaterMinAlpha value and set that to 0 (which was the default value), you're pretty much good to go.

Ok, so if i set a "0" value for the "WaterMinAlpha" i can see the right water transparency (great!! :ohyes: ), but i lost the "Olympic Terrain" texture (d*mn! :( ).

    What accounts for that?

I suspect using your "text editor" you clobbered something like a checksum, and invalidated the modd. Try it again after you learn how to use the Reader. You can't just change a database file with a simple tool because it isn't aware of the db requirements. You are entering into an area of actual computer programming.

I dont think, because if i set a value greater than ten (10), i can see the terrain texture, but water clarity of the beach get bad again...

and already this is driving me crazy :boggle:
