Seasonal Terrain Mod, Possible? Does it exist?

Hello my question is, is it possible to make a terrain mod in which the ground textures change depending on season? Someone seemed to have mistakenly thought that Columbus Terrain Mod does that, which got me thinking. I really really want that now.

Where would I begin if I wanted for my own personal use add seasonal textures. Really when it comes to terrain there just needs to be two sets, one from November through March and one for the rest of the year. Snow isn't necessary, winter is often snowless and most models that come with Cycledogg's seasonal fauna don't have snow on them in the winter just decidious trees and bushes with dropped leaves. So just the really green grass textures would require to be changed to brown-yellow winter grass that changes with time. Can someone tell me how I would go about making such a mod, first for myself and whith the permission from Cycledogg for the public?

I have ilives and SC4 PIM-X not sure how to make anything seasonal.

If seasonal terrains already exist, then I would be very thankful if someone could point me to one such.

I don't think that exists or that Simcity 4 has the capability of this. :( But there are seasonal trees, and a few snow mods by PEG.

Here are a few things you may want to look at:

-Antarctic Terrain Mod

-PEG Snow Mod

-Sphinx Rock Mod

My name was Jack3oh3, Captain Jack3oh3.

That isn't quite true, as we can see in Lowkee33's thread Here.

You don't think it would slow down the game a lot, my first thought is how fast the days go by... I guess if it would only happen ever other or every third year it might be good.

It does not slow down the game at all, for me anyways. I have tested lowkee's myself, He currently has 2, one using cp's textures and another using his own ones.

If you want to create a seasonal mod the first thing you need to do is learn to make a terrian mod itself, let alone seasonal.

Yes I'm starting do do the same, a scandinavian type terrain mod. I'm getting there already, it's just the seasonal things (moisture) is very unpredictable even when you change the weather properties exemplar to what you want. Some times you get the strangest effects out of it. But I am already getting seasonal changes. It is easier than I thought. I have never really done any sort of modding before or even made a lot in loteditor or anything. But my terrain mod is slowly getting better. I used real life photographies of november grass and managed to texturize it nicely in Texture Maker, very good easy to use program. Then I add different colors of different levels of brownness in the grass and in the middle I use the original texture which contains both greenish and more brownish-yellowish elements. So I think I might actually succeed in doing a seasonal mod as my first ever SC4 plugin. I've been using plugins since there came out plugins for SC4, and I feel guilty that I haven't been able to participate much before now. I'm not very computer-skilled, but the terrain editing stuff is pretty straight forward. The seasonality things are not though, but that's because it was never meant to be in the game. Or they changed their minds about seasons at some point when making SC4, maybe deadline was coming close, who knows.

Yea, I haven't attempted a seasonal mod yet. Don't get discouraged at all, my first modding experience was a terrain mod too.
