Auto Terraforming?

Okay, terraforming is NOT my thing. I like building cities, but I don't like purely flat regions or purely water regions (no fun there). Is there any way at all to do auto terraforming like you could in SC3000? I like the mix of city size in forming new regions, and would like to keep that, but have noticed in some of the NHP maps are all large cities, or small, or whatever, and not a real mix. I'd like a mix of water, mountains, rivers and seas. Is downloading someone else's maps the only solution?

And if so, where do I find the SC4 Mapper that they all seem to need to import. And I just saw where SC4Mapper had a complicated workaround for Windows 7- but it didn't mention the thread. Anybody know where it is? (I'm still looking)

Thanks from an SC4 n o o b

Carl

You can change the city sizes by making a custom config.bmp file. You can find instructions on how to create the file in the Omnibus, the link is at the top of the page.

The topic on how to install the Mapper is in this forum, maybe on the older pages.

All NHP maps are large tiles only maps for a reason. I, for one, do not want to spend several hours opening and closing city tiles to render the map and the only way to quicken the pace is to do large tile only maps. You can always make a new config for whatever NHP map you use if you choose to.

SC4 Mapper is here & a patch for it here (dunno what that does)..

On a side note; I've found that you can render maps (example NHP maps) using Terraformer even though the read-me says to use Mapper. It's the same basic rendering process anyways ;)

Okay, I've downloaded SC4 Mapper and the patch. But when I go to open SC4 Mapper, all I get is a NHP Banner Logo, and nothing else happens, i.e., the program does not open. What now? And I am running a 32bit Windows 7 OS.

    Maybe I need Terraformer?

    I'm sooo confused.

    Thanks, Carl

I haven't been able to find a download for terraformer yet. Do you remember where you got it?
