So if i re-install Citiesxl (& upgrade) or buy the new 2012 version am i still going to have to join an

internet "world" (for a monthly fee) to play all the options or am i gonna have everything available to me (offline) by purchasing the disc?

Read the FAQ, wiki, or any sticky thread and it should be obvious. You must be oblivious to Cities XL 2011, which means (if all you have is the original) you must purchase the full version of 2012. You have to activate it online.

If you have cities xl 2011 you can get it cheap around 13.50 Ive got them both on steam and ocram is right must activate online but no monthly fees just the cost of the game

I have Cities XL original on Steam.

I can download Cities XL 2011 upgrade for 12.49.

then I can download Cities XL 2012 upgrade for another 12.49.

Is this correct? Coz then I'm willing to do it for $26 bucks.

Metaboli 2012 is incompatible with steam 2011, of course.

Hi.I´m also a n o o b in this game.I played XL a cupple of years ago,and that time I could do it off,-or online,where there was other players too.

Now I´ve just downloaded XL 2012,and it seems that ther´s no online part anymore.

And this is the n o o b question:Is this game not online anymore?I mean,-no chat,no trade,no visiting other players city´s?

Please avoid answer my question,if you feel annoying about this silly n o o b .

Aha,I found the answer myself

"However, on March 8, 2010 the online service was closed and the game became single-player only."

That´s a damn shame though,but still a good game.

Actually i have the original and 2011...just never bothered with the online after the trial period of the original as it looked like they only offered "the good stuff" online.... basically selling me a shell of a game....

2011 never gave me alot of choices either.

What might be nice is if they gave players something like the way ppl play BF3 online...a way to connect to ppl but not using servers for game storage.

Your cities would be stored on your system but ppl could view them (and your stats) and communicate to you thru a server system if you were connected at the time...just a thought

Cites XL 2011 is pretty much the Planet Offer reworked to be off line in solo mode. All the "Good Stuff" in the Planet Offer and Limited Edition were included in 2011.
