Today, being Saturday, I loaded all my usual forums in separate tabs. I got one 500 (on Off-Topic General) and the rest eventually loaded. Later I got a 500 on a post to Current Events. The post was made, but the return delivery failed.

As usual, there are too many guests. I don't think the number of guests should exceed the number of members logged in. Where to all these people come from anyway? They should probably have a five minute time out!

In general, response was snailish.

I just got a 500 and the site is slow. Is there nothing that can be done about the overload caused by "guests"?

That link should still resolve to the new file...

I have never gotten an old STEX link to redirect to the new one. It just brings me to a 404 page.

Sometimes when I come to Simtropolis at the main page, a 500 appears that says i would come back later.

Then when I come back, this 500 is still there! What the heck is this 500 doing on this site!?

EDIT: Today, Simtropolis is running like a cheetah. Snails and tortoises are out, cheetah rules!

I think the one who runs the server is a cheetah.

I was getting 500's earlier. Must be the week end.

I have gotten a screen with the following message 2-4 times in the past few days:

"Maintenance Mode.

Simtropolis in undergoing maintenance.

We will return shortly."

It happened most recently about 5 minutes ago.

I get that occasionally, usually on weekends. It is a more grievous 500. I've been getting both for the last three days, and I suspect it is because there is a heavy load starting Friday after classes to Sunday night.

Interesting, the site has been running fairly quickly for me today. Slight slowness at random points, but overall running really well. No 500 errors.

So here we are a day later and the response is instantaneous, pretty much. The threshold for lousy service seems to be around 400 active users.

And once again on the weak end, the situation is slow response and 500's.

Indeed, the site has been quite slow today, and I have had several 500 errors.

At some points it has been running well though. Though generally it is the former.

Could be. Typing in "Simcity 4 Crashing" on Google brings ST up as the first result. Not that this is what most guests are searching, although I'm sure some must.

The site is misbehaving as usual on a busy weak end. So far today since 0930 EST I have had one 500, one maintenance mode, and two garbled pages.

Slow this weak end, but I only got 1 500 yesterday around noon. Things seem to be improving.

I've been on the receiving end of 2-3 500 error's this weekend. Sometimes the site is slow, other times it works fine.

Last night (Or this morning, I guess) I had a few 500 errors. It was the first time in a long time, too.

Around noon today, I was getting nothing but refusals. Strange for a Thursday. Even now, three hours later, it is very slow, and I got two 500's right off the top.

Running diagnostics? Backups? What?

Edit: make that three more in the last five minutes. Half the hardware must be down.

Re-edit: and two more trying to post a reply. I'll try in a few more hours.
