Well as soon as I joined I noticed the website was always off atleast 20 minutes a day. Sometimes like exactly right now, it is really fast, sometimes it is really slow. Then, sometimes it shutdowns. It happens in the morning. I get lots of "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" errors, then I get some weird thing that says MySQL Error and has a little message and a background.

One morning, it was off from 6:30 to maybe 10:00. It's usually in the morning and the time can vary from 15 minutes to 3 hours. Nothing is wrong at all with my computer and all other websites work....

It is so annoying. Just like another site I like that goes off for 72 hours sometimes to fix it's servcer.

It's not us. Dirk and Co have done a wonderful job getting the new site programmed. Today, I got a "Server is going down" message on three tabs while I was waiting on a "Connecting" state. I don't think the girls in Dallas are big enough to handle us.

Post Hoc: After the boot, the response time is much better. I managed to open all my shortcuts in tabs and have good response across the board. Maybe the server gets tired?

The server was tired again this morning from 0730 to 0830 when I gave up. Back from shopping at 11:05 EDT, and all tabs opening promptly. Perhaps the server was asleep at the interface.

Off this whole morning to 09:00 when I left the house, and off for quite a bit last evening. Really bored me out so much this morning that I went and played a Wii game with a little boy.

I'm not sure if this is known/has already been addressed, but yesterday, July 26, probably from around 12:00 p.m. MST to 1:00-ish p.m. MST when I clicked on the link to Simtropolis, it took me to the homepage of a website/company called parallel. It told me that link I clicked on didn't have a website/web page. I apologize for any incorrect wording, I am not what you would call "computer savvy".

Killing a database problem is really difficult if you are not on the site. Go to it, guys, and good luck.

BTW, that SQL error banner came up twice on me today. It would be nice if it would say something in its box, but it is always blank. Some programmer at the DB outfit needs his head rung. Exits to an error message box are supposed to contain the error message. Maybe the SQL package gets tired? This is probably one of those typical queuing errors or an off-by-one or both. One way to test for that kind of thing is to send it a null update. Failing that, try queuing more than its limit. There may be some transaction exits that forget to set the proper next pointer, or violate a critical section by forgetting to set or unset a semaphore. Good hunting.

Also, test data created by the implementor is usually only good for finding the expected paths. Try creating some that is really off beat.

Well the site seemed to be running smoothly for a while, but it has gotten really slow again. This morning it took 5 minutes to load the forums. It wasn't my connection because all other sites were loading at their normal speed. I have also been getting a lot of messages like these when trying to do things like send messages and load forum topics.

Today, at this time, the response time on this board is over a minute. This is not an acceptable response when we know it can be instantaneous. Maybe it has the Monday morning blues?

The board always seems slow in the early mornings to around noon.

And today, the response has been very spotty. Is this the effect of the new database underpinnings? If so, it was a flop. Maybe you should think about changing to a B+ Tree structure. This is very fast. My team implemented one of these in the 1970s. The base article is in the JACM for August (I think) 1972.

Edit: it was 100 times faster than the database we had previously used.

I have noticed that as well. This morning I got several Internal Server Errors when trying to go to the General Discussion forum. Very annoying.

This morning before 0900 EDT it was very slow and I got an "Internal Server Error" message. I simply recalled the site from my bookmark and everything cleared up. I think this web server swaps us out overnight or something like that.

It was very slow. Took at least 5 min. to load topics and the forum boards. I eventually gave up and came back 1/2 later and it was back up to its normal speed. Chat also went down this morning at around 7 Mountain time (9 EDT)

Good morning.

It took me from about 0820 EDT to now to get connected to the site with several time-outs. My network tools indicate the server was alive, but it appears that this application was either very much swapped out, or not even loaded. The question is whether this is a 24/7 site or not?

I got this five times in the last few minutes trying to post a simple reply to a thread (RSA), but I can open the General Off Topic forum and this one with no problem.

I have gotten 3 internal server errors today. 2 were from trying to respond to threads in the forum games section and one was from replying to a PM.

I got 3 Error 500 Internal Service Errors today... Chat is also going nuts today and an outage just happened at around 1 pm...

Thanks for the feedback all, we have done another change yesterday afternoon, so hopefully things will start to smooth out and stabilize.
