Focus just defined the price of the CXL 2012 Expansion:

- 39.99 Euro for the full game

- 14.99 as an expansion (that is, if you have CXL 2011)

A fair price, I think.

The lack of any night shots is beginning to make me worry because the night mode in 2011 was absolutely horrible.

I hope cities XL 2012 have improved their game engine, so they really use "multicore" rendering (not limited by single core) and all bugs that occurs in cities XL 2011 have been fixed in 2012, not only "Graphic improvement" like 2009 to 2011.

BTW

to much "Burj Dubai" in single city LOL :D

Been playing CX2012 for some time now. I wanted to show you what i created in my city.

Focus hasn't made any upgrades to the game regarding performance issues, so we are stuck with one CPU core usage

Other things in this version are new buildings and ability to make big beach and ski resorts.

OK, I am pretty sure that I saw a second thread that contributed a negligible amount to another core. The main engine monopolizes one core and all the other programs switch to my other cores so I can run iTunes or Pandora in the background without any decreased performance. That might be why they say you need a dual core processor or better, one core can be taken up fully while all your other programs run fine.

For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

It is pretty much a mere DLC (300 buildings, a few roads, and separate modding tools). Cities XL 2011 was pretty much Cities XL Planet Offer made into Single Player with the addition of Metro.

The important part is not the 300 buildings but the modding support and tools. Documentation and tutorials have been made to ease the making of mods.

The only reason SimCity 4 has stuck around so long is because of modding so it only makes sense to increase support for modding. Génération City is far ahead of us when it comes to modding and adding buildings because they are familiar with the process from City Life and the modding tool is a (heavily modified) version of the City Life tool.

Yeah, but what do the mods DO? Alter textures? New buildings? New transit options? Traffic engine alterations?

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

Those are all possible.

Retextures, modified buildings, and new plazas are the easiest but Pharmist experimented with roads and the NEXL is in the works, a CXL version of the RHW is in development, René made alterations to the traffic engine.

I have the game, but haven't played yet... reading that there is not much difference between the two games leaves me cold. The mods are what's going to save this game. I am a freeway fanatic, and even with the new RHW MOD and the fork in the road mod for Cities XL 2012 the roads and ramps still look clunky and unrealistic, I'm sure as time goes by, the modders out there will be able to smooth out these rough edges... I'm willing to wait until then...

Downloaded it a few days ago... I am pleased with some features and it is progressive. I think the enviornment needs to be up to the standard of realism of developments- there are only trees and no animals or rocks etc... Transport options are limited and I have not looked at the whole modding thing much but the default is limited.... However some Simutrans-esque features like controlling bus lines were a pleasant surprise. Real advertisements is a good idea, a simple and effective way to help fund the game. I like the free road/zone system, the lots themselves well... I can't complain about that when comparing this to 4... The sims... ultimately I would like an integration with this game... individual simulation of citizens... also the ability to drive around the city and interact with ppl in some way... The graphics naturally are beyond complaint as computers like my newly got laptop still get some lag with bigger cities... But are certainly a significant improvement on 4... um... yeah... so I am quite pleased and despite I had to fork out an extra 150 dollars for broadband data allowance to download it I am pleased with it... and hope it will continue to improve.

Is this game only for steam? I'm looking for a game and i'm thinking of buying this or waiting for simcity 5 in feb 2013 but if this is only for steam then i think i will wait for simcity5. Steam crashes my computer which is why i won't buy it if it is like that

There is also a Metaboli download off the official site that only requires a browser, with an optional download speed booster.

2012 can be very buggy. FHI unfortunately doesn't quite have their act put together, and they overlooked several things which shouldn't have made it past testing - not that they did much testing to begin with. Fortunately the community finished what FHI couldn't and the game is more or less working fine (save for some lag issues, to which we have workarounds).

I'd try opening a new thread or asking on a more active forum, such as XL Nation.
