My Maxis buildings are gone

One day I noticed that several of my Maxis buildings are missing with only their foundations left, this problem doesn't seem to be focused in are certain sector. I don't believe mods are the problem because I have gotten rid of all of them with no luck getting those buildings to return. I have even re installed SimCity without any luck. My Mods are NAM, Landmarks with Jobs, SimFox Day 'N Nite Mod, Extra cheats menu modd, 4 car dealerships, some automata mods.

It also appears that you might be growing empty lots. Read though the article and see if you can fix your problem.

I just have the 4 dealerships (Ferrari, Honda, Nissan, Toyota) which I didn't use in any cities yet and BSC BAT Bank used in two cities.

I didn't have bldg_prop vol. 1&2 now I do, still no luck getting the buildings to return.

The empty growing lots are Maxis original buildings not downloaded buildings (I only have 5 downloaded) now that I look again it seems to be most residential and some commercial buildings affected. I have 3 architectural styles growing in my cities, Houston and Eurostyle seem to be the only ones affected Chicago style seems to be in the clear. I haven't spotted an industrial building with this problem yet.

I have had the Landmarks with Jobs plugin since 2009, this phenomena started Saturday July 2, 2011. I didn't keep any plugin that I downloaded on that day.

FYI- That article is no help to me because I am not experienced in hacking or writing computer code at all.

One question that was not asked is what is the version number of your game?

You find it by using windows explorer to navigate to

C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 ...\Apps and hovering your mouse over the SimCity 4.exe file

(or if you are not on windows 7, right click the file and open the version tab).

Try this:

1. Change the name of your plugins folder(Your game will create a new one). Do not move your plugins to the new folder.

2. Open a sandbox (test) region and build a city. If you still have the problem then you can rule out plugins causing it.

And just to clarify, this problem is happening in all cities, it isn't happening in just one particular area?

If the sandbox test works, and you isolate the troublesome plugin, you still need one more update.

Go to the EA site again and open the BAT page. Pick up the SimCity4 update

You may also want to get the Lot Editor from that same page as it has been updated for BATs.

This update will give you night lights on your BAT lots.

And just to clarify, this problem is happening in all cities, it isn't happening in just one particular area?

This problem is happening to mostly residential and commercial buildings in cities built with Houston and Euro tilesets in every region in my game. If the city was built with the New York and Chicago tilesets it will not have any empty lots. No industrial buildings are affected.

You mentioned you had re-installed the game and the problem remained. Did you grow a new city without putting your old regions and plugins back into the game, or did you use the originals?

Also, you might try the Extra Cheats and plop the buildings to see if they appear correctly. You might make a backup copy of one of the regions with the issue and use that region to plop some of the same buildings, save and exit the game, and re-open it to see if the buildings are present.

Thanks everyone for all your help, but the problem seems to have disappeared without me being able to take anyone's advise. Since I still don't know what caused it, it's bound to happen again and when it does I will try all of your tips.

I have a similar problem. I downloaded a combined subway and bus station. It should have the default Maxis subway station on it but it doesn't.

I tried the bldg_prop vol. 1 & 2 but I think it ruined other things. But I'm not sure.

I think so...

Try removing everything from your plugins except for the bldg_prop vol. 1 & 2, and that particular lot. See what happens. If the problem persists, remove the bldg_prop vol. 1 & 2 as well and try again.

What is the name of the download you tried? Perhaps the maker thought it used a Maxis station but didn't. It's been known to happen. Just a thought...
