The best high capacity monorail station

I have a problem. I've build a city which has (of course) residential, commercial and industrial area's. The difference with my other cities is that I've let a lot of space between these area's (forests). This results in a massive transportation-flow. I've got the transportation by car, rail and subway under control but I still don't know what to do with the monorail.

Almost every monorail station has 30.000 passengers or more while the maximum capacity of these stations is about 10.000.

I have found this station to solve the problems more or less at some places but I don't like to build this station everywhere.

My question to you is: What is by your opinion the best high capacity monorail station?

It didn't fit in one image so I've made two.

My goal was to develop all transportation-types equally. The problem is that almost everyone is travelling by subway or monorail, but monorail has much less stations than the subway so that gives problems. There is also the problem that there is weigh to much travel on the lines between the residential and commercial area's. I've tried to solve that by making two lines next to each other (which surprisingly helped).

This is my favourite monorail station --> https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/3038-modern-monorailbussubway-station/

It also has a bus stop and a subway station.

What a coincidence. I was looking for that kind of station, because the BLAM one is just a little too much at times. Thanks for the link.

If your monorail system is being overloaded, consider putting in spurs rather than putting all your stations on the main line. This works for heavy rail, and I can't see why it shouldn't work for monorail. The load count includes through traffic, and spurs would eliminate that false reading.

You're right, that one is awesome. I've put a lot of these stations in my city, even the one with a capacity of 10.000 (the one with the bus stop and subway) is not enough.

Spurs is a good idea. I've made some progress.

The double monorail line seen in picture 1 goes to a monorail station with two tracks. The left track stops at that station while the right track goes further. This results in a traffic-flow of 13.000 per track instead of 20.000 on one track. It's impossible to make spurs without demolishing a lot of buildings so I've got to look how I can build an third line without breaking down half the city. I think it must be possible though.

I would recommend just using Ilive's Reader to change the capacity of any monorail station you want. Just change the value of Transit Switch Traffic Capacity to what you want. It's very intuitive to use. You can also change the Catalog Capacity, which is what shows up in the menu; if you type in a round number in decimal, it automatically gets converted to hex.

As for what capacity to use, when using the NAM traffic simulator (which you must be to get those kind of volumes), the recommended capacity for monorail stations is 45,000. Setting the capacity to this number will eliminate the need for spurs. (See the Transit Switch Entry Costs and Station Capacities post for more details on recommended station capacities.)

In general, it's much easier to find the stations you want and then set their capacities properly than to search out stations with specific capacities.

And FWIW, Brenda's monorail station is my favorite too. I've just changed the capacity on it.

@lloydyboy232: Thanks for your compliment, I tried building the most efficient city by being real patient, guessed it worked. :golly:

@Z1: Thanks for your advice, that would give me a lot more possibilities.
